WOOLWICH TWP. – The CVS on Center Square Road in Woolwich Township was robbed by an armed suspect at 11:08 p.m. on June 19.

The suspect took a customer hostage and demanded oxycodone. No one was hurt and the suspect fled the area after the pharmacy technician complied with his demands.

Woolwich Township Police reported that the suspect, a white male, entered the front entrance dressed in layered clothing, armed with a crow bar. The suspect then took a female customer hostage, stating he was going to “shoot/kill” her if he wasn’t given all of the Oxycodone.

After the technician complied, the suspect attempted to steal the hostage’s car keys but was unable to. The suspect then fled on foot in a northern direction through Lexington Mews development. A K9 tracked him but was lost at the wood line.

This is the second drug store robbery in the area. The Rite Aid in Logan Township was held up, police believe, by the same suspect on May 22. No one was hurt in the Rite Aid robbery.

Logan Township Police reported that during the Rite Aid robbery, the same suspect, armed with a knife and a hammer, entered the store wearing a red coverall, yellow traffic vest and a white hard hat and yellow safety glasses and a white mask.

The suspect approached the pharmacy, leaped over the counter and demanded all the Oxycodone. He then took the keys to a 2011 Chrysler 200 owned by a store associate and fled the scene in the stolen car.

Woolwich Township Police stated that they believe the suspect is also responsible for a third drug store robbery in Haddonfield. The Woolwich Police are working with detectives from both jurisdictions, including the Gloucester and Camden County Prosecutor’s Office.
