SWEDESBORO — It’s the new year and you may have taken a resolution to give back to your local community and you’re looking to find a way to pay-it-forward to those in need. Or maybe you are a college bound student and are looking for some community service opportunities for your college resume.
Well look no more. Kings’ Things, your local charity, is in need of volunteers to help them with their mission to feed and clothe the needy of the surrounding area including the towns of Swedesboro, Logan Township, East Greenwich Township, Greenwich Township, Woolwich Township and South Harrison Township.
Located in downtown Swedesboro, the charity runs a furniture store and thrift store that fund its food pantry as well as other community outreach programs. Unlike most other charities, the organization is 100 percent staffed and run by volunteers that receive no monetary compensation for their service. With no salary overhead that means that more assistance can be provided to those in need.
If you can spare a minimum of three hours volunteer time a week, you would be able to make a difference in supporting the charitable work of the organization. Volunteers can work in either the furniture store, thrift store, or food pantry performing such tasks as customer assistance, inventory control and upkeep, food distribution, and general housekeeping services. There is also a particular need in the furniture store for volunteers that are able to assist with the movement and staging of furniture in the store, as well as the pick-up and transport of donations to the store or to its storage facility.
If you would like more information or are interested in volunteering some of your time, then please contact the furniture store at (856) 975-6557 or the thrift store at (856) 467-1796.
If more convenient, then just stop by either of the stores. The furniture store and thrift store are located in downtown Swedesboro at 1420 Kings Highway and 1402 Kings Highway respectively.
