The writer of the mysterious letter in a bottle found floating in the Raccoon Creek has been discovered. The note was written by Arianna Cannon, now 10, of Logan Township.
Her mother, Tana Cannon, said that her daughter put the bottles in the creek the day they moved into the area in September 2015.
The family lives a short distance from Debbie and Steve Rash, who pulled the bottle from the creek while they were cleaning up their yard along the creek. According to Debbie Rash, Arianna and her mother knocked on their door, holding a copy of the paper, with an ear-to-ear smile because Arianna was so thrilled to see her very own letter on the front page. She never dreamed the letter would be found.
Rash wondered, “Was the letter in the bottle quietly tucked away in our cove throughout the long winter months or did it perhaps go on a journey down the Raccoon Creek into the Delaware River and perhaps to the Delaware Bay only to return home? Only the letter knows.”
Arianna also said that there were three notes, so there are two letters in a bottle still floating around out there. If anyone finds them, please email The New Town Press at editor@newtownpress. And while you are looking for them, why not clean up the area.
