Aug. 5: A Robins Run West resident reported that her vehicle had been stolen by her 31 year old son, Charles Franklin. As a result of the investigation, Mr. Franklin was charged with theft of the motor vehicle as well as theft of a cell phone and a warrant was issued with a bail amount of $35,000 or 10 percent. The vehicle was subsequently located in Camden City on Aug. 10.
Aug. 6: A 21 year old West Deptford man was stopped for speeding on Route 130. The subsequent roadside investigation led to a probable cause search of the vehicle. During that search, police seized a quantity of raw marijuana, several smoking pipes, a scale and a marijuana grinder. The driver and his two passengers, also 21 year old West Deptford men were all arrested. They were each charged with possession of marijuana under 50g and possession of drug paraphernalia. The driver was also charged with related motor vehicle violations. They were all released pending court dates in Logan Township Municipal Court.
Aug. 7: Officers responded to an employee dispute at UPS Mail Innovations at 200 Birch Creek Road. One of the involved parties alleged that the other male had insinuated that he had a gun and would use it against the victim. The suspect denied the allegation and granted police consent to search his vehicle which yielded negative results. Police cleared with no further action required.
Aug. 9: Police investigated the theft of a shipment of meat from Lakeside Refrigerated Services, 2600 Oldmans Creek Road. The ensuing investigation revealed that a truck driver arrived at the facility purporting himself as an employee of MDP Transportation who was brokered through Mega Corp, a logistics company, to transport the load of meat from Logan Township to a facility in Marlboro, MD. When the shipment never arrived at its intended destination, Lakeside personnel contacted police. The investigation is ongoing in an attempt to identify the Hispanic male driver.
Aug. 10: Employees of Aryzta Bakeries found hypodermic syringes and suspected heroin in the parking lot at 11 Technology Drive. Same was subsequently turned over to police and marked for destruction.
Aug. 10: Police responded to the ACME, 1619 Center Square Road, for a report of an attempted shoplifting. While enroute, the caller advised that the suspect had observed that he was being surveilled by employees and left the merchandise in a cart and fled the store. He then fled the scene in a red Ford Mustang with no registration available. The items that the suspect had attempted to steal included frozen shrimp, bottled water and toilet paper with a total value of $789. While investigating a similar incident on Aug. 19, police were able to positively identify the suspect as 21 year old Michael McDonald from Mullica Hill. Contact was made with the suspect who responded to headquarters where he was served with a summons charging him with shoplifting and conspiracy. He was processed and released pending a date in Gloucester County Superior Court.
Aug. 12: Employees of the Heritage’s Dairy Store, 501 Beckett Road, found a gold women’s ring and turned it over to police. The ring is being held at headquarters in the event the owner comes forward.
Aug. 13: Police responded to Applebee’s, 1639 Center Square Road, for a report of two patrons attempting to leave the restaurant without paying their bill. Upon arrival management indicated that the couple, a 36 year old man and a 31 year old female, both from Elsinboro, had ordered two drinks but did not have the funds to pay the tab. As they attempted to leave, police were called. In lieu of filing formal criminal charges, management banned the couple from the facility.
Aug. 14: Police responded to a large fight at the Bridgeport Fire Hall. The on scene investigation revealed that approximately 10 people became involved in a dispute inside the hall while attending a party. The argument moved outside where a physical altercation took place during which a 23 year old Pedricktown man and a 21 year old Penns Grove man were assaulted. The suspects, who left the scene prior to police arrival, were not able to be identified.
Aug. 18: Incident to an unwanted person/employee dispute at Uptown Bakeries, 2271 High Hill Road, a 31 year old Philadelphia woman was arrested on outstanding warrants from East Greenwich and Penns Grove municipal courts totaling $1,150. She posted $50 towards the warrants and was released on her own recognizance pending future court dates.
Aug. 19: Incident to a motor vehicle complaint, police located the suspect vehicle and stopped it after verifying that the vehicle was failing to maintain its lane. As a result of the ensuing investigation, a 41 year old man from Drums, PA was arrested and charges with Driving While Intoxicated and several related motor vehicle offenses. He was processed and released pending a date in Logan Township Municipal Court.
Aug. 19: Police were dispatched to the ACME, 1619 Center Square Road, for a report of an attempted shoplifting. The caller advised that the male suspect had fled the area in a Ford Mustang and were able to provide police with a registration for the vehicle. Further investigation revealed that the male had entered the store, placed 22 packages of energy drinks in a shopping cart, concealed same with a package of paper towels and attempted to leave the store without paying for the items which had a total value of $250. The suspect was able to be identified as 21 year old Michael McDonald from Mullica Hill. Contact was made with the suspect who responded to headquarters where he was served with a summons charging him with Shoplifting and Criminal Attempt. He was processed and released pending a date in Gloucester County Superior Court.
Aug. 20: Incident to a motor vehicle stop, a 26 year old female from Logan Township was arrested and charged with Possession of Under 50g of Marijuana. She was processed and released pending a date in Logan Township Municipal Court.
Aug. 20: A New Castle Lane resident reported that sometime between Aug. 16 and Aug. 20 an unknown actor entered the residence and stole two wristwatches with a combined value of $745. There was no tangible evidence by which to identify a suspect but the resident suspects that an associate of one of the other residents may be responsible for the theft. The investigation was turned over to the Detective Unit for follow-up.
Aug. 22: Incident to a motor vehicle stop on High Hill Road, the 26 year old female driver from Logan Township was arrested for possession of marijuana. She was transported to headquarters where she was fingerprinted, photographed and served her summonses. She was then released pending a date in Logan Township Municipal Court.
Aug. 24: A Hancock Street resident reported that sometime between 3:15 p.m. on Aug. 23 and 12:20 a.m. on Aug. 24 someone burglarized his residence. The unidentified actor entered the home through a bedroom window and rummaged through the victim’s personal items, however nothing was stolen. There was a latent fingerprint on the window ledge which was lifted by detectives in an attempt to identify a suspect. The investigation is ongoing.
