WOOLWICH TWP. — A new event for adults, Coffee and Cards, has been added to the Swedesboro Woolwich Parks & Recreation list of Fall activities. This event is for our older citizens to write holiday greeting cards to our service members.
The holidays are a great time to share our gratitude with service members. The SW Parks & Rec Committee will deliver the cards to a service organization for distribution to service members.
The coffee, sweet treats, and cards will be provided. Just bring a pen and some cheerful holiday words of thanks.
Coffee and Cards will be held on Thursday, Nov. 10 from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. at the Woolwich Township Building Conference Room. No RSVP is required. Adults only, please.
TOY DRIVE
As a courtesy to the Lexington Hills Motorcycle Club, help give local children a very special holiday season this year. The L.H.M.C. will be collecting new unwrapped toys, books, games or stuffed animals on Thanksgiving morning at the Woolwich Township Building.
Please drop off your donations on Thursday, Nov. 24 between 8 a.m. and 12 p.m. They will also have a tent at the Holiday Village to drop off toys.
TREE LIGHTING
There has been a change in the holiday activities schedule. The Annual Woolwich Holiday Parade and Annual Tree Lighting will both be held on Saturday, Dec. 3. Free crafts, games, snacks, and rides for the entire family.
New for 2016 is the Holiday Village at Locke Ave Park from 5 to 8 p.m. Community based businesses, groups, churches, and organizations are invited to participate for free.
We want the entire communities of Swedesboro and Woolwich to enjoy this event while leaving their wallets at home. So, there will be no selling of goods or products.
Each village participant will have access to an area around the Holiday Tree, and there will be power should you choose to decorate your canopy. We ask that you have a free activity, giveaway, or handout for participants.
Please go to woolwichtwp.org to download the participation registration form. Forms are due by Nov. 19.
The Holiday Parade starts at the Stratton School parking lot at 5 p.m. and travels down Fredrick Blvd. to High Hill Road to the west entrance of Locke Ave Park. The festive evening will conclude with fireworks starting at 8 p.m.
In the event of rain, the Holiday Village and Tree Lighting will take place on Sunday, Dec. 4, while the parade will be canceled. Please check the township website for updates.
