logan policeAug. 26: After follow up investigation into theft of metal originally reported on July 25, 2016, a suspect was identified through a review of video surveillance footage. The suspect, a 74 year old Camden man, subsequently turned himself in to Logan Township Police. He was fingerprinted, photographed and served a summons charging him with the theft. He was released pending a date in Gloucester County Superior Court.

Sept. 6: A Cardinal Court resident reported that someone damaged her mailbox during the overnight hours causing an estimated $50 in damage. No suspect was able to be identified.

Sept. 7: Police responded to a dispute at a Merle Lane residence. Incident to the ensuing investigation, a 25 year old male from Logan Township was arrested for criminal mischief. He was processed and released on a summons pending a date in Logan Township Municipal Court.

Sept. 8: Incident to a motor vehicle stop, a 46 year old Clayton man was arrested on an active child support warrant in the amount of $15,584 cash purge. He was processed and turned over to the Gloucester County Sheriff’s Department for transport to the Salem County Jail.

Sept. 11: Police responded to Wawa, 1700 Center Square Road, for a respiratory emergency and upon arrival discovered that the patient was in cardiac arrest. Officers performed CPR until Gloucester County EMS and Inspira Paramedics arrived to treat and transport the victim to Inspira Hospital in Woodbury.

Sept. 13: Incident to a motor vehicle stop a 40 year old Salem woman was arrested on several outstanding warrants. During a search incident to her arrest, a hypodermic needle and several wax folds containing suspected heroin were discovered. She was charged with possession of heroin, possession of a hypodermic syringe, possession of drug paraphernalia and failure to surrender a controlled dangerous substance to police. She was processed and remanded to the Salem County Jail pending Grand Jury action.

Sept. 14: Police took a report from a Logan Township Public Works employee of an irate New Castle Lane resident who verbally berated the employee over the fact that construction materials were not picked up from the curb in front of the residence. The resident was warned regarding his disorderly conduct and that future incidents would result in charges being filed.

Sept. 17: Police responded to ACME Markets, 1619 Center Square Road, for a report of shoplifting. The suspect fled prior to police arrival but upon viewing surveillance footage, officers were able to identify him as Logan Township resident Charles Franklin, with whom police have had numerous prior contacts. Franklin had been advised by store management and police personnel on previous occasions that he was no longer permitted in the store as a result of similar incidents.  A warrant was issued for his arrest charging him with trespassing and shoplifting with bail set at $5,000 full cash. Franklin was subsequently apprehended in Riverton and turned over to Logan Township Police on the outstanding warrant. He was served with the warrant and turned over to the Gloucester County Sheriff’s Department for transport to the Salem County Jail in default of bail.

 

Sept. 18: While investigating a suspicious person on Nortonville Road, it was learned that the suspect, Robert Costello, had an active criminal warrant out of Penns Grove Municipal Court in the amount of $7,500. As officers attempted to take him into custody, Costello fled the scene. With knowledge as to his identity and home address, officers issued a warrant for Costello charging him with Eluding Police. He subsequently turned himself in on both warrants later in the day. He was processed and remanded to the Salem County Jail in default of bail.

Sept. 23: Incident to a motor vehicle stop, a 23 year old Logan Township man was arrested and charged with possession of drug paraphernalia. He was processed and released pending a date in Logan Township Municipal Court.

Sept. 25: Police responded to a dispute on Quail Court. After the ensuing investigation, a 40 year old Logan Township man was arrested and charged with assault. He was processed and released pending a date in Logan Township Municipal Court.

Sept. 27: Incident to a motor vehicle stop, a 19 year old Logan Township man was arrested on several outstanding warrants with a total bail amount of $2,825. He was processed and turned over to the Gloucester County Sheriff’s Department for transport to the Salem County Jail.

Sept. 28: Police were dispatched to 101 Arlington Boulevard for a report of an unwanted person. A 26 year old Philadelphia man, who had previously been advised not to return to the business, was subsequently arrested on trespassing charges. During the search of his person incident to arrest, officers found that he was in possession of under 50g of marijuana as well as drug paraphernalia. He was transported to headquarters where he was processed and charged. He was processed and released pending a date in Logan Township Municipal Court.

Sept. 28: Police responded to 201 Berkeley Drive for a report of criminal mischief. A 28 year old Bridgeton man advised that while he was working, an unknown actor “keyed” his 2007 Ford. There are no suspects and the damage estimate was not available at the time of the report.
