The 2016 Woolwich Community Garden

wool-garden-webWOOLWICH TWP. — As the eight season of the Woolwich Community Garden draws to an end, they are happy to report that it has continued to get bigger and better.

The garden has grown to 40 full plots (20 foot x 30 foot) and 16 half-plots (15 foot x 20 foot). Fifty-six families participated, twenty-four of whom were returning gardeners. The youngest gardener was two years old and the oldest was 78, although gardening keeps him looking younger than his years.

The gardeners extend their thanks to Woolwich Township for installing a well and water lines to the garden area. With such a hot and dry summer, everyone was happy they didn’t have to lug water cans from the tanks to their plots, a laborious process.

If space doesn’t allow you to have a private garden, consider becoming a member of the Woolwich Community Garden in 2017. They definitely would welcome you and think that you will not only reap crops but new friends. Information on the 2017 season will be available in the near future.

Woolwich Community Garden is a space where individuals come together to grow food, build relationships and celebrate their community.
