April 28: Police responded to a report of suspicious persons in the parking lot of McDonald’s, 1701 Center square Road. Upon arrival officers made contact with the occupants of a vehicle who appeared to be under the influence of narcotics. During their investigation, police observed drug paraphernalia and hypodermic needles in plain view within the vehicle. The two females, one 26 year old and one 31 year old, both from North East, MD, were arrested and charged with both violations. They were transported to headquarters where they were fingerprinted, photographed, issued their summonses and released pending a date in Logan Township Municipal Court.
April 29: Police were dispatched to Wawa, 1700 Center Square Road for a report of a hit and run motor vehicle crash. Upon arrival it was learned that a red box truck with the word “Industrial” written on the side and bearing a Delaware temporary registration had entered the lot from Center Square Road. Upon entering the lot at a high rate of speed, the truck struck a concrete pillar at the gas pumps causing damage to both the pillar and the truck. The operator reportedly exited the vehicle, walked around the truck to look at the damage and then got back in the vehicle and left the scene. Damage to the post was estimated to be $1,000. May 3: A Hendrickson Mill Road resident reported that over the past several months she had engaged in a friendship with a male through an online dating site. Over that time, the male requested money to help him with some personal issues, which the victim voluntarily sent. Subsequently she also provided him with her bank routing and account information. Since that time, suspicious transactions have taken place on her account defrauding her of $2,500. Residents are reminded to never give banking information to anyone, over the phone, by mail or via the internet without having confirmation as to the person’s or company’s identity.
May 3: Police responded to Wawa, 1700 Center Square Road, for a report of a motor vehicle crash. Upon arrival it was determined that the crash took place on I-295 and New Jersey State Police were dispatched to take the report as they are responsible for incidents on the interstate highway. After speaking with the caller, Logan officers learned that the other driver had left the scene on foot. After an extensive search of the area, the driver could not be located. Several hours later a male matching the driver’s description was seen in the Holiday Inn, 1 Pureland Drive. Police located the driver, a 36 year old Camden man, hiding behind a shed in the area and took him into custody. He was subsequently charged with trespassing and turned over to NJSP for charges related to the crash.
May 3: Police received a call from a concerned motorist regarding an erratic driver on Route 130. Officers responded and observed the vehicle to be tailgating another vehicle and failing to maintain its marked lane. During the subsequent motor vehicle stop, officers detected the odor of an alcoholic beverage on the driver’s breath. Field sobriety tests were conducted and the driver, a 64 year old West Deptford woman, was taken into custody for suspicion of Driving While Intoxicated. At headquarters she refused to submit to breath testing. She was charged with Careless Driving, Failure to Maintain a Lane, DWI and Refusal to Submit to Breath testing. She was then released with a date pending in Logan Township Municipal Court.
May 6: Police were dispatched to Uptown Bakeries, 2271 High Hill Road for a report of an unwanted person. Upon arrival officers learned that the suspect, a 20 year old Philadelphia man, had been terminated on 12/12/16 and on that date police advised him to not to return to the premises. The following investigation revealed that he had snuck into the building despite that previous warning. As a result he was arrested and charged with Defiant Trespassing. He was transported to headquarters, processed and released pending a date in Logan Township Municipal Court.
May 7: Police responded to Wawa, 1700 Center Square Road for a report of shoplifting. The investigation revealed that a male reached over the counter and attempted to take several packs of cigarettes but they fell from his hand. Moments later a second male reached over the counter, grabbed several packs of cigarettes and immediately left the store. Video surveillance allowed officers to identify the subjects as a 20 year old Logan Township man and a 19 year old Woolwich Township man. The 19 year old was subsequently located, arrested and charged with shoplifting. He was transported to headquarters where he was processed, served his summons and released pending a date in Logan Township Municipal Court.
May 12: Police responded to Uptown Bakeries, 300 Eagle Court for a report of criminal mischief to a vehicle. Upon arrival it was learned that the victim was a manager at the facility who had recently disciplined an employee for poor work performance. Surveillance video revealed that after that interaction the employee scratched and dented the manager’s vehicle in the parking lot, causing an estimated $2,000 in damage. Criminal Mischief charges have been filed against the 26 year old Philadelphia woman and she has been repeatedly advised to respond to headquarters to be processed and served. To date, she has failed to comply.
May 14: Police were dispatched to The Village Pub, 3 Village Center Drive for a report of an unwanted person. Upon arrival it was learned that a patron, a 30 year old Menifee, CA man, had been asked to leave the bar but refused to leave the area. In order to avoid any confrontation, the man was transported back to his hotel by police. A short time later he arrived back at The Village Pub and began creating a disturbance in an attempt to fight with staff. Police located him and took him into custody for disorderly conduct. He was transported to headquarters where he was processed, served his summons and released pending a date in Logan Township Municipal Court.
May 21: Police responded to Rite Aid, 335 Village Center Drive for a report of an intoxicated person in a vehicle. Upon arrival officers observed a 28 year old Swedesboro man in his vehicle “huffing” compressed air cleaner. Subsequent investigation revealed that the man had previously been advised that he was not welcome at the store and that he had stolen the can of cleaner. As a result he was arrested and charged with Defiant Trespassing and Shoplifting. He was processed and released pending a date in Logan Township Municipal Court.
May 24: Incident to a motor vehicle stop on Route 322, police arrested an 18 year old Exton, PA man for Possession of Marijuana, Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance in a Motor Vehicle and Speeding. He was transported to headquarters where he was fingerprinted, photographed, served his summonses and released pending a date in Logan Township Municipal Court.
May 27: Following a motor vehicle stop, police arrested a 36 year old Penns Grove man for possession of marijuana. He was transported to headquarters where he was processed and released pending a date in Logan Township Municipal Court.
June 1: Incident to a motor vehicle stop, a 21 year old man was arrested for hindering his own apprehension by providing a false name. He was transported to headquarters where he was processed. He was then lodged in the Salem County Correctional Facility on his outstanding warrants.
June 4: Incident to a motor vehicle stop for an improper turn, police arrested a 63 year old Elmer man for DWI. Same was processed and released to a responsible party in accordance with NJ Attorney General’s Guidelines with a date in Logan Township Municipal Court pending.
June 4: Incident to a motor vehicle stop, police arrested a 19 year old Bridgeport man for possession of marijuana. He was processed and released pending a date in Logan Township Municipal Court.
June 6: Police responded to a High Hill Farms residence for a report of a burglary and theft. Upon arrival it was learned that a window at the rear of the residence had been broken to allow entry. Stolen from inside the home were several electronics with a total value in excess of $3,000. There was no tangible evidence at the scene to identify the suspect(s).
June 7: Incident to a motor vehicle stop, police arrested a 31 year old Gibbstown woman for possession of marijuana. She was transported to headquarters where she was processed and released pending a date in Logan Township Municipal Court.
June 7: Police stopped a vehicle on Route 130 because it was learned that the registered owner had an active warrant from Camden City Municipal Court. Once stopped it was discovered that the driver, a 22 year old Camden man, was in fact the registered owner and he was taken into custody. The passenger gave a false name to police which initially was confirmed independently by the driver. It was later determined what the passenger’s true identity was and that there were several outstanding warrants for him. The 26 year old Camden man was then taken into custody. A search incident to their arrests turned up a glass smoking pipe on the rear floor of the car. The driver was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and hindering the apprehension of another by providing false information. The passenger was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and hindering his own arrest by providing false information. Both men were processed and served their summonses for the Logan Township charges. The driver was then released on his own recognizance on the Camden City warrant. The passenger posted cash bail on the Gloucester County warrants and was then turned over to Camden County Metro PD on the remaining warrants.
June 8: While patrolling through the parking lot of Wawa, 1700 Center Square Road, police detected the odor of marijuana in the air. It was discovered that the odor was coming from a vehicle at the gas pumps and the vehicle was subsequently stopped as it left the property. The resulting investigation discovered that the front seat passenger was in possession of under 50g of marijuana and he provided a false identity to the officer in order to avoid apprehension for outstanding warrants. The suspect, a 21 year old Camden man, was taken into custody and transported to headquarters. There he was fingerprinted, photographed and served a summons charging him with possession of marijuana as well as hindering his own apprehension. He was released pending dates in Logan Township Municipal Court and Camden City Municipal Court.
June 8: While investigating a 9-1-1 hang up call at the Holiday Inn, police made contact with a 26 year old male from Newport News, VA and a 25 year old female from Smithfield, VA. Upon gathering details about what led to the 9-1-1 call, it was learned that the female was a wanted person for a robbery that took place in the State of Virginia with full extradition. She was taken into custody, processed and ultimately turned over to Salem County Jail to await extradition to Virginia.
June 10: Police were dispatched to the area of I-295 near Exit 10 for an erratic driver complaint. A check of the surrounding area located the vehicle parked in the parking lot of Mitsubishi Fuso, 2015 Center Square Road. Upon making contact with the occupants, it was discovered that the driver, a 49 year old Westville man, had an active warrant from the Washington Township Municipal Court. He was taken into custody and in the process, police observed a wax fold containing suspected heroin on the driver’s side floor board. The driver was transported to headquarters for processing. He was charged with possession of heroin and turned over to the Gloucester County Sheriff’s Department for transport to the Salem County Jail.
June 13: While on patrol on Route 130 near the Route 322 interchange, an officer observed a pickup truck towing a trailer hauling two jet skis that had malfunctioning trailer lights and a deflated tire on the truck. Upon stopping the vehicle, it became immediately apparent that the trailer had just been stolen. The occupants of the truck, a 37 year old Philadelphia man and a 34 year old Swedesboro man were arrested and charged with Criminal Trespass, Theft and Receiving Stolen Property. Both also had outstanding warrants for their arrest. They were processed and remanded to the Salem County Jail to await a detention hearing.
