June 25: Incident to a motor vehicle stop for failing to stop at a stop sign, police detected the odor of marijuana in the vehicle. A probable cause search was conducted and several small Ziploc baggies containing suspected marijuana were found within the passenger compartment. Numerous additional bags with suspected marijuana were also seized. The 19 year old female driver from Chester, PA was subsequently arrested and transported to headquarters for processing. At headquarters she was fingerprinted, photographed and served summonses charging her with Possession of Under 50g of Marijuana, Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance in a Motor Vehicle, Possession of Narcotics Paraphernalia and Failure to Stop at a Stop Sign. She was then released pending a date in Logan Township Municipal Court.
June 28: Incident to a motor vehicle stop for speeding, the driver and passenger were both found to have active warrants. The driver, a 27 year old female from Brookhaven, PA, had a warrant from Woolwich Township Municipal Court in the amount of $550. She was arrested, taken to headquarters for processing and released on her own recognizance pending a new court date. The passenger, a 21 year old Penns Grove woman, was taken into custody on numerous outstanding warrants from several jurisdictions with a total bail of $2,250. She was processed and turned over to the Gloucester County Sheriff’s Department for transport to the Salem County Jail.
June 29: While conducting a traffic stop of a speeding vehicle, officers detected the odor of marijuana in the vehicle. A subsequent probable cause search of the vehicle revealed suspected marijuana as well as drug paraphernalia. The driver, a 28 year old Newark, DE man, was arrested and transported to headquarters. He was charged with Possession of Under 50g of Marijuana, Possession of CDS in a Motor Vehicle, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Speeding. He was processed and released pending a date in Logan Township Municipal Court.
July 3: As a result of a motor vehicle stop for speeding, the driver was found to have a suspended driver’s license and a passenger in the vehicle who was not wearing his seatbelt gave false information as to his identity. Upon confirming his true identity it was learned that the passenger, Christian Herrera of Penns Grove, was found to have active warrants. Incident to his arrest, a search of his person was conducted and a 9mm starter pistol was found concealed in his undergarments. He was transported to headquarters where he was fingerprinted and photographed. Herrera was charged with Hindering Apprehension, Possession of a Weapon, Possession of an Imitation Firearm and Possession of a Weapon in a Motor Vehicle. He was then turned over to the Gloucester county Sheriff’s Department for transport to the Salem County Jail to await a detention hearing.
July 5: Incident to a motor vehicle stop, the driver, a 22 year old Woolwich Township man was taken into custody on outstanding warrants from Logan Township, Woolwich Township and East Greenwich Township. He was turned over to East Greenwich Police in default of a total of $2,085 bail.
July 5: Police were called to Greenyard Logistics, 405 Pedricktown Road, for a dispute over a stolen cell phone. Upon arrival, it was learned that the victim in the theft was being argumentative with other employees and became belligerent. Management told him he was terminated and he refused to leave the property. Attempts were made by officers to deescalate the situation at which point the male charged at officers at which time he was taken to the ground and handcuffed. A search incident to his arrest turned up a switchblade knife. The 38 year old man was then transported to headquarters where he was ultimately charged with Defiant Trespassing, Resisting Arrest and Possession of an Unlawful Weapon. He was processed and turned over to the Gloucester County Sheriff’s Department for transport to the Salem County Jail to await a detention hearing.
July 6: Incident to a motor vehicle stop for an equipment violation and an expired registration, police detected the odor of marijuana in the vehicle. Upon being confronted about the odor, the driver, a 36 year old Woodbury man, surrendered a bag containing three smaller bags which contained suspected marijuana. Also seized were two “grinders” commonly used in preparing marijuana for ingestion. The driver was arrested and transported to headquarters. He was fingerprinted, photographed and served his summons charging him with Possession of Under 50g of Marijuana and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. He was then released pending a date in Logan Township Municipal Court.
July 7: Police were called to Greenyard Logistics, 405 Pedricktown Road, for an unwanted person. Upon arrival it was determined that an employee had refused to assist in the cleanup of a spill and was therefore advised by his manager to clock out and that he was no longer needed for work that day. This reportedly enraged the employee, a 23 year old Camden man. He refused to leave the property so police were summoned. During the investigation, it was learned that the male had outstanding warrants from Camden City with a total bail of $2,000. He was taken into custody, transported to headquarters and eventually released on his own recognizance pending a new court date in Camden.
July 9: Incident to a motor vehicle stop for a seatbelt violation, police detected the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. A subsequent probable cause search turned up several bags containing suspected marijuana and a small grinder commonly used in preparing marijuana for ingestion. The driver, a 22 year old Feasterville, PA woman her passenger, a 27 year old Logan Township man, were both arrested. The driver was charged with Possession of Under 50g of Marijuana, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance in a Motor Vehicle. The passenger was charged with Possession of Under 50g of Marijuana, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Failure to Wear a Seatbelt. Both were processed and released pending a date in Logan Township Municipal Court.
July 12: An Oriole Drive residence was burglarized and several items were taken from within. The ensuing investigation revealed that sometime between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. an unknown actor(s) forced entry into the home through a garage door and stole cash, change and jewelry with an estimated value in excess of $10,000. No suspected have been identified.
July 13: Incident to a motor vehicle stop, a 31 year old Pennsville woman was arrested on two outstanding warrants from Logan Township and Carneys Point with a total bail of $3000. She was processed and turned over to the Gloucester County Sheriff’s Department for transport to the Salem County Jail.
July 13: A Catawba Drive resident reported that his 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee was stolen from his driveway. He had arrived home and gone inside for approximately one hour inadvertently leaving the doors unlocked and a set of keys inside. Upon returning to the vehicle it was gone. A neighbor’s video surveillance camera captured several young males walking along the street trying door handles on vehicles and ultimately stealing the victim’s vehicle but the video was not able to identify any of the actors. The vehicle was subsequently located several days later in Philadelphia with front end damage and the victim’s property missing.
July 13: A Burgundy Drive resident reported that his vehicle was entered overnight and rummaged through. Nothing was taken from the vehicle.
July 14: Incident to a motor vehicle stop for speeding, police detected the odor of marijuana in the vehicle. A subsequent probable cause search revealed a pill bottle containing suspected marijuana. The driver, a 28 year old Aston, PA man, was arrested and transported to headquarters for processing. There he was fingerprinted, photographed and served summonses for Speeding, Possession of Marijuana in a Motor Vehicle, and Possession of Under 50g of marijuana. He was then released pending a date in Logan Township Municipal Court.
July 17: An Arrowood Drive resident reported that her 2008 Chevrolet Tahoe had been stolen from in front of her residence sometime between 10:45 p.m. the night before and 4:30 a.m. The vehicle was subsequently recovered in Camden City on July 20. No suspects could be identified.
July 17: Several East Hedgerow Drive residents reported having their vehicles burglarized overnight. Taken from within the victims’ vehicles were loose change, sunglasses, a camera, etc. with a total value in excess of $300. No suspects could be identified.
July 17: Rite Aid employees reported to police that a customer had entered the store, filled a shopping cart with nutritional supplements and left the store without paying for the items. Staff advised that the same male had committed a similar shoplifting the day before. A manager was able to follow the male out of the store and obtain a registration on the vehicle the suspect was driving. The subsequent investigation resulted in identifying the suspect as 28 year old Clarence Loghry 4th of Deptford Township. He was arrested on July 19, processed and remanded to the Salem County Jail to await a detention hearing.
July 20: Police responded to a Heidi Lene residence for a report of burglary and theft from the residence. The homeowner reported that a Mac laptop computer was taken from within the residence at some point over the previous 24-36 hours. After it was discovered that the computer was missing, the victim checked the exterior of the home and found signs of forced entry through a rear door. No further evidence was found at the scene.
July 21: Incident to a motor vehicle stop for a lamp violation, police observed an open container of alcohol in the rear seat and also learned that the driver, a 24 year old Woolwich man, had an outstanding warrant from Woolwich Township. As officers attempted to take him into custody for the warrant, he resisted arrest, and tried to pull away from officers. He was ultimately arrested and transported to headquarters. He was charged with Resisting Arrest, Obstruction of the Administration of Law, Disorderly Conduct and several motor vehicle violations. He was then processed and released pending a date in Logan Township Municipal Court.
July 23: Police conducted a motor vehicle stop for an unregistered vehicle and failing to maintain a lane. Upon making contact with the driver, the odor of marijuana was detected by the officer and it was learned that the driver had a suspended driver’s license. Based on the odor of marijuana, a probable cause search was conducted. Located during that search was a quantity of suspected marijuana and drug paraphernalia. The driver, a 25 year old Camden woman, was arrested and charged with Possession of Under 50 grams of Marijuana, Possession of CDS in a Motor Vehicle, Failure to Surrender CDS to Law Enforcement, Operating a Vehicle with a Suspended License and Operating an Unregistered Vehicle. She was processed and released pending a date in Logan Township Municipal Court.
July 25: A Carneys Point man responded to police headquarters to report that someone had attempted to fraudulently cash a check at Sun National Bank that had been stolen from his residence. Bank staff was not able to verify the signature on the check and called the victim. Upon review of the video, the victim was able to positively identify the suspect as a family friend, also from Carneys Point. Upon concluding the investigation, the suspect, 24 year old Jonathan Bryceland, was arrested and transported to police headquarters. He was charged with Criminal Attempt and Fraud. He was then processed and remanded to the Salem County Jail to await a detention hearing.
July 25: Police were called to Edward Drive in the area of School Lane for a suspicious motor vehicle report. Upon arrival, a check of the license plate revealed that the plate had been stolen from Paulsboro but that it did not belong on the 2003 Chrysler that was on Edward Drive. A check of that vehicle’s VIN revealed that the minivan had been stolen from Winslow Township two weeks earlier. Both were seized and ultimately returned to their rightful owners. No suspects could be identified.
July 27: Police responded to a report of an abandoned vehicle and determined that it had been reported stolen on July 13 in Camden City. The vehicle, a 2008 Honda Fit, was towed from the scene and notification was made to the owner and Camden County Police.
