PEOPLE IN TRANSITION: DECEMBER WORKSHOPS

DEPTFORD TWP. — The Center for People in Transition at Rowan College at Gloucester County (RCGC) hosts a number of empowerment, health and financial workshops during the month of December.

Unless otherwise noted, all workshops are free and open to the public. Registration is mandatory. Call 856-415-2222 or email peopleintransition@rcgc.edu to register. You must be 18 years or older to attend.

“Learning to Say NO” — Kristen Wilson, Social Service and Career Administrator for People in Transition, knows that it is easy to become overwhelmed with responsibilities and engagements, taking on more and more even when you are not sure how to manage your current commitments. Whether it is with work, kids, partners or friends, setting boundaries is crucial to getting through the day.

Join Kristen to learn how to establish these boundaries and say “no” as an act of self-care and self-preservation. This workshop is sponsored by the United Way of Gloucester County and will be held on Monday, Dec. 4 from 6 – 8 p.m.

“Conflict Management” — Join Jessica Jolly, Associate Professor of Psychology, to learn how to develop the self-awareness, communication skills and motivation necessary to resolve uncomfortable situations. Those who learn to embrace conflict can build understanding and better relationships and experience greater personal and professional success.

In this workshop you will learn to diagnose conflict within personal and work relationships, find the hidden agenda fueling the battle, identify anger triggers and remain poised in conflict situations, encourage collaborative problem solving and learn a variety of strategies for managing conflict. This workshop is sponsored by Heart of South Jersey and will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 13 from 6 – 9 p.m.

Rowan College at Gloucester County’s 250-acre campus is located on Tanyard Road in Deptford, just off Exit 56 off of Route 55.
