LOGAN TWP. — Township Line Road has long been a rough road to travel.
As may not be known to many, Township Line road is half owned by Woolwich Township and half owned by Logan Township. Because of this split ownership, the road has unfortunately become neglected and as residents of both communities use the road, its condition has deteriorated.
As there was not a clear path to a dual project and budget, Logan Township took the initiative and submitted a grant request to the New Jersey Department of Transportation. Because of the dual ownership, Woolwich helped with endorsement of this grant application.
Good things come to those who plan. In 2017, Logan Township was awarded a $175,000 grant towards construction improvements and oversight of work for Township Line Road Resurfacing. While this is not enough money to pave the entire road, it is a great start.
Logan’s engineer designed improvements for pavement of the worst areas of the road for both the Logan Township and Woolwich sides, which is Phase 1 of the project. A contract was awarded to Pierson construction and as soon as the spring weather hits, Pierson will be repaving the roadway from Salisbury way to Stechers.
“But we are not stopping there”, says Logan Township Mayor Frank Minor. “We have applied for phase 2 of the roadway improvements and hope to get additional NJDOT funding in the coming years.”
This heavily traveled road will soon be improved, creating a safer driving experience without a local tax impact.
