SWEDESBORO — Vanessa Paccione has been named the 2018-2019 Gloucester County Teach Of The Year. She is the first Teacher Of The Year from the Swedesboro/Woolwich School District.
Paccione has been teaching art in the district for 14 years. She attained a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Tyler School of Art, Temple University and a Master of Arts in Art Education from The University of the Arts in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
She received an award for excellence in academic achievement for her graduate thesis research regarding the implementation of health and safety awareness and instructional strategies for art programs. Vanessa presents at the local, state and national levels on innovative approaches to reforming school climate and culture by infusing visuals arts as an essential component of instruction into anti-bullying programs.
She is passionate about building positive school cultures of inclusivity and collaboration and wrote her district’s character education program. Vanessa also leads the district’s energy conservation efforts as both the Sustainable Schools Coordinator and Energy Specialist for her district.
