Adults:
Yoga for Everyone – Fridays, Oct. 12 & 19 – 10:30 a.m. Learn basic yoga positions, breathing exercises, and meditation techniques. Please bring your own mat or towel and a water to drink. Space is limited, be sure to register.
Knit/Crochet Club – Tuesday, Oct. 16 – 6:30 p.m. Bring your own project or a group project will be available. Register at www.gcls.org.
Halloween Craft Palooza! – Wednesday, Oct. 17 – 6:30 p.m. Come join the fun at the library in making all different kinds of Halloween crafts. Be sure to register at www.gcls.org.
Adult Book Club – Tuesday, Oct. 23 – 7 p.m. Join the Swedesboro Library Adult Book Club. We have many exciting reads planned this year. Our October book selection is The Curious Charms of Arthur Pepper by Phaedra Patrick. For more information call 856-467-0111 or register at www.gcls.org.
Tween/Teens:
Tween Book Club – Saturday, Oct. 6 – 11 a.m. October’s selection will be The Sixty-eight Rooms by Marianne Malone. Participants must be registered.
Teen Writers’ Club – Monday, Oct. 8 – 7 p.m. Do you love writing? Join us on the second Mondays of each month. This time will be devoted to writing. You can work on your own writing or pull ideas from our binder. Your writings may be published in our Teen Express Literary Magazine.
Marble Challenge for Teens & Tweens – Thursday, Oct. 11 – 7 p.m. What kind of marble run can you create? Come find out! Be sure to register at www.gcls.org or call 856-467-0111.
Teen/Tween Gaming – Join us on Thursday, Oct. 18 – 6:30-8 p.m. Play Xbox, Wii, DS’s, and traditional board and card games. Bring a friend and have a great time!
Anime Club – Monday, Oct. 22 – 5 p.m. Anime meets on the fourth Mondays at 5 p.m. Feel free to come dressed in costume. You can also bring Pokemon cards or Yu Gi Oh cards to play, watch an Anime movie/show and/or draw Manga characters.
Teen Advisory Board – We welcome teens to join our Teen Advisory Board. Teen Board members will learn library skills, help plan teen activities, contribute to our quarterly teen newsletter and/or work with children by becoming a Literacy Buddy. Call 856-467-0111 for more information.
Literacy Buddies – Looking for teens interested in becoming a Literacy Buddy. We are starting the program this month. Teens can work one-on-one with a child who needs help with reading, math, homework, or learning English. Commitment is one hour a week on Mondays, Tuesdays, or Wednesdays from 4 to 5 p.m. Call 856-467-0111 for more information or stop in and fill out a volunteer form.
Children:
FURever as Friends – Monday, Oct. 29– 6:30-8 p.m. Visit with our therapy animals, read to them, share a picture book, brush their coat, and/or give them a treat. Some of our animals even do tricks! Registration is not required. Permission slips to visit our animals are available at the front desk. The 29th of October will be our Halloween Celebration. Feel free to come in costume! Special snacks will be provided.
Halloween Blast – Thursday, Oct. 25 – 6:30 p.m. Celebrate Halloween with Tony Baloney! Come in costume, enjoy a craft, fun, games, and snack! Tony will keep you laughing, dancing, and having a good time! Space is limited. Participants must be registered.
Literacy Buddies – Does your child need help with homework, reading or learning English – call us at 856-467-0111 and we will try to match your child with a Teen Volunteer. Literacy buddies will take place on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays, beginning this month from 4 -5 p.m. Let us know which day is best for you.
Toddlers & Babies:
Tuesday Storytime (Laugh n’ Learn) – Storytime is a fun time! Listen to stories, sing songs, and make a craft! We meet on Tuesday mornings at 10:30 a.m. October storytime dates are Oct. 9, 16, 23, & 30. Storytime is best suited for children ages 2-1/2 to 5 years of age. Registration required.
Wednesday Storytime (Toddler Tales) – Join in the fun Wednesday morning for stories, dancing and crafts. Wednesday storytime is at 10:30 a.m. Dates for October are Oct. 10, 17, 24, & 31 – Library meeting room. Registration required.
Halloween Party for Toddlers – Friday, Oct. 26 – 10:30 a.m. Join us for games, snack and craft fun for toddlers. Your children can come in costume! All children must be registered.
Baby Music Time – “Sing, Dance, and Play” – Bring your baby to a fun time of music – familiar songs, activities and fingerplays. Baby Time is held on Thursdays, Oct. 4 & 18 – 10:30 a.m. Space is limited, registration is required.
Toddler Music Time – “Sing, Dance, and Play” – Your toddler will enjoy a fun time marching, playing instruments, learning fingerplays, and singing familiar songs. This month’s dates are Thursdays, Oct. 11 & 25. Registration is required as space is limited.
