Adults:

Holiday Christmas Concert – Tuesday, Dec. 4 – 7 p.m. Get in the holiday mood. Enjoy holiday songs on harp and acoustic guitar played by Richmond Carlton, on the harp, and Justin Carlton, on acoustic guitar. You will not be disappointed. Be sure to register at www.gcls.org.

Make an Ornament – Thursday, Dec. 67 p.m. Enjoy this fun holiday activity. Make a cute pom-pom tree ornament specially created and embellished by you. Space is limited. All participants must be registered.

FREE GED/HSE Preparation and Testing – Tuesdays, Dec. 11, & 18 from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and Wednesdays, Dec. 12, 19, & 26, from 4 to 5:30 p.m. The classes are for High School Equivalency preparation and testing. Classes will also be available at other GCLS library branch locations on different dates and times. Please check our online calendar for details.

Christmas Ribbon Wreath – Wednesday, Dec. 126:30 p.m. Create your own door or window ribbon wreath for the holidays. Be sure to register as space is very limited.

Yoga for Everyone – Fridays, Dec. 14 & 28 – 10:30 a.m. Learn basic yoga positions, breathing exercises, and meditation techniques. Please bring your own mat or towel and a water to drink. Space is limited, be sure to register.

Adult Book ClubTuesday, Dec. 18 – 7 p.m. Join the Swedesboro Library Adult Book Club!  December’s selection will be The Kitchen House by Kathleen Grissom. For more information call 856-467-0111 or register at www.gcls.org.

Tween/Teens:

Tween Book Club – Saturday, Dec. 15, 11 a.m. December’s selection will be Diary of a Wimpy Kid:  The Getaway by Jeff Kinney. Participants must be registered.

Teen Writers’ Club – Monday, Dec. 10 – 7 p.m. Do you love writing? Join us on the second Mondays of each month. This time will be devoted to writing. You can work on your own writing or pull ideas from our binder. Your writings may be published in our Teen Express Literary Magazine.

Make a Holiday Wreath – Thursday, Dec. 206:30 p.m. Enjoy making a holiday fabric tie-on wreath. Space is limited. Be sure to register.

Teen/Tween Gaming – Join us on Thursday, Dec. 27 – 6:30-8:00 p.m. Play Xbox, Wii, DS’s, and traditional board and card games. Bring a friend and have a great time.

Teen Advisory Board – We welcome teens to join our Teen Advisory Board. Teen Board members will learn library skills, help plan teen activities, contribute to our quarterly teen newsletter and/or work with children by becoming a Literacy Buddy. Call 856-467-0111 for more information.

Literacy Buddies – We are looking for teens interested in becoming a Literacy Buddy. Teens can work one-on-one with a child who needs help with reading, math, homework, or learning English. Commitment is one hour a week on Mondays, Tuesdays, or Wednesdays from 4 to 5 p.m. Call 856-467-0111 for more information or stop in and fill out a volunteer form.

Children:

FURever as Friends –   Mondays, Dec. 17 6:30-8 p.m. The 17th is our special “FURever as Friends Celebrate Christmas!” The therapy animals will be dressed for the season. Visit with our therapy animals, read to them, share a picture book, brush their coat, and/or give them a treat. Some of our animals even do tricks. Registration is not required. Permission slips to visit our animals are available at the front desk.

Christmas Craft – Saturday, Dec. 2210:30 a.m. Make a festive Pinecone Christmas tree. This craft is best suited for ages 6-12. Space is limited. Registration required.

New Year’s Eve Party – Monday, Dec. 311:30 p.m. Celebrate the coming of 2019 with a craft, fun activities, and refreshments. Best suited for ages 4-12. Space is limited so please be sure to register.

Literacy Buddies – Does your child need help with homework, reading or learning English – call us at 856-467-0111 and we will try to match your child with a Teen Volunteer. Literacy buddies will take place on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays, from 4 -5 p.m. Let us know which day is best for you. There will be no literacy buddies on Dec. 24-26 or Dec. 31 due to the holidays.

Toddlers & Babies:

Tuesday Storytime (Laugh n’ Learn) – Storytime is a fun time. Listen to stories, sing songs, and make a craft. We meet on Tuesday mornings at 10:30 a.m. December story time dates are Dec. 11, & 18. Registration is required.

Wednesday Storytime (Toddler Tales) – Join in the fun Wednesday morning for stories, dancing and crafts.  Wednesday storytime is at 10:30 a.m. Dates for December are Dec. 12, & 19 – Library meeting room. Registration required.

Baby Music Time – “Sing, Dance, and Play” – Bring your baby to a fun time of music – familiar songs, activities and fingerplays.  Baby Time is held on Thursdays, Dec. 6 & 20 – 10:30 a.m. Space is limited, registration is required.

Toddler Music Time – “Sing, Dance, and Play” – Your toddler will enjoy a fun time marching, playing instruments, learning fingerplays, and singing familiar songs. This month’s date is Thursday, Dec. 13. Registration is required as space is limited.

All Gloucester County Libraries will be closed or closed early due to the holidays:

Monday, Dec. 24 – All GCLS branches will close at 2 p.m.

Tuesday, Dec. 25 – All GCLS branches will be closed

Monday, Dec. 31 – All GCLS branches will close at 5 p.m.
