Needle Arts: Crochet, Knit or Sew Night! – Tuesday, March 5 & 196:30 p.m. Learn how to sew, knit or crochet or get help with your own project. Be sure to register at www.gcls.org.

FREE GED/HSE Preparation and Testing – Tuesdays, March 5, 12, 19, & 26 from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and Wednesdays, March 6, 13, 20, & 27 from 4 to 5:30 p.m. The classes are for High School Equivalency preparation and testing. Classes will also be available at other GCLS library branch locations on different dates and times. Please check our online calendar for details.

Job Readiness Program:

Resumes, Cover Letters & Thank you Letters – Wednesday, March 6, 4 – 5:30 p.m.  Assistance provided with resumes, cover letters and writing that all important follow up thank you letter. Let our expert in the field help you find that next job!

50 Top Interview Questions & Applications – Wednesday, March 13, 4-5:30 p.m. Meet with an expert and learn the 50 most asked interview questions and receive guidance on the best way to answer. Also receive assistance filling out a job application.

Dress for Success & Interview Etiquette – Wednesday, March 20, 4-5:30 p.m. Learn from an expert what to wear on a job interview. Also receive interview etiquette tips and suggestions.

Interview Practice – Wednesday, March 27 – 4-5:30 p.m. Practice interview questions with an expert in the field. A great way to be prepared for your next interview!

Yoga for Everyone – Fridays, March 8 & 22 – 10:30 a.m. Learn basic yoga positions, breathing exercises, and meditation techniques. Please bring your own mat or towel and a water to drink. Space is limited, be sure to register.  

“Home at Last:  A Journey Toward High Consciousness” – Wednesday, March 27 – 6:30 p.m. Join us for a discussion with author Sarada Chiruvolu. Ms. Chiruvolu left a pharmaceutical career to pursue a spiritual calling. She will provide information on the important roles of diet, exercise and meditation to balance everyday life. Tween/Teens:

Tween Book Club – Saturday, March 9, 11 a.m. March’s selection will be Chomp by Carl Hiaasen. Be sure to register at www.gcls.org.

Teen Writers’ Club – Monday, March 11, 7 p.m. Do you love writing? Join us on the second Mondays of each month. This time will be devoted to writing! You can work on your own writing or pull ideas from our binder. Your writings may be published in our Teen Express Literary Magazine.

Teen/Tween Gaming – Join us on Thursday, March 21, 6:30-8 p.m. Play Xbox, Wii, DS’s, and traditional board and card games. Bring a friend and have a great time!

Anime Club – Monday, March 25, 5 p.m. Anime meets on the fourth Mondays at 5 p.m. Feel free to come dressed in costume. You can also bring Pokemon cards or Yu Gi Oh cards to play, watch an Anime movie/show and/or draw Manga characters. 

Teen Advisory Board – We welcome teens to join our Teen Advisory Board. Teen Board members will learn library skills, help plan teen activities, contribute to our quarterly teen newsletter and/or work with children by becoming a Literacy Buddy. Call 856-467-0111 for more information.  

Literacy Buddies – We are looking for teens interested in becoming a Literacy Buddy. Teens can work one-on-one with a child who needs help with reading, math, homework, or learning English. Commitment is one hour a week on Mondays, Tuesdays, or Wednesdays from 4 to 5 p.m. Call 856-467-0111 for more information or stop in and fill out a volunteer form.

Children:

FURever as Friends –   Monday, March 4 & 18, 6:30-7:30 p.m. Visit with our therapy animals, read to them, share a picture book, brush their coat, and/or give them a treat. Some of our animals even do tricks! Registration is not required. Permission slips to visit our animals are available at the front desk. All ages welcome!

New Jersey Makers Day – Saturday, March 23, 11 a.m. Join us for NJ Makers Day! Space is limited so be sure to register. We will have the following activities available:

  • Make a lava lamp – Learn about chemical engineering and make your own lava lamp.  This program is for ages 9-12 and is limited to 10 students.
  • Learn counted cross-stitch. Each participant will receive a kit and be taught how to do counted cross-stitch. Children will complete their projects at home. This program is for ages 9-12 and is limited to 6 students.
  • Make a beaded necklace or bracelet.  For ages 6-12. This program is limited to 8 participants.
  • Work independently – use our snap circuits, magnets or mosaic board. For ages 6-12.  Space is limited to 6 participants

Literacy Buddies – Does your child need help with homework, reading or learning English – call us at 856-467-0111 and we will try to match your child with a Teen Volunteer. Literacy buddies will take place on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays, from 4-5 p.m. Let us know which day is best for you.  

Toddlers & Babies:

Saturday Storytime (Toddler Tales) – Saturday, March 2, 10:30 a.m. Join our once-a-month Saturday storytime. Listen to stories and do a fun craft!  Storytime is best suited for ages 2-½ to 5.  Be sure to register at www.gcls.org or call 856-467-0111.

Tuesday Storytime (Laugh n’ Learn) – Storytime is a fun time! Listen to stories, sing songs, and make a craft!  We meet on Tuesday mornings at 10:30 a.m. March’s storytime dates are March 5, 12, 19, & 26. Storytime is best suited for ages 2-½ to 5. Registration is required.

Wednesday Storytime (Toddler Tales) – Join in the fun Wednesday morning for stories, dancing and crafts.  Wednesday storytime is at 10:30 a.m. Dates for March are March 6, 13, 20, & 27 – Library meeting room. Storytime is best suited for ages 2-½ to 5. Registration required.

Baby Music Time – “Sing, Dance, and Play” – Bring your baby to a fun time of music – familiar songs, activities and fingerplays.  Baby Time is held on Thursdays, March 7 & 21, 10:30 a.m. Space is limited, registration is required.  

Toddler Music Time – “Sing, Dance, and Play” – Your toddler will enjoy a fun time marching, playing instruments, learning fingerplays, and singing familiar songs. This month’s dates are Thursday, March 14 & 28. Registration is required as space is limited.
