WOOLWICH TWP. — Swedesboro Woolwich Parks and Recreation invites the community to Locke Ave Fun Day on June 1. Celebrate our community with your family, friends, and neighbors.
Start the day at Locke Ave Park at 8 a.m. with the 2nd Annual 08085 Run/Walk/Sit. The Kiwanis Club of Greater Swedesboro, the Swedesboro-Woolwich Parent-Teacher Organization and the Swedesboro-Woolwich Parks and Recreation Committee have joined together to present this event which celebrates the zip code that Swedesboro, Woolwich, and Logan share.
This event includes a 0.8 mile race for kids; a 0.8 mile walk for walkers; a 0K sit for anyone who ever wanted to earn a race shirt and medal but is unable to train for a race; an 8K race that will take runners through all three 08085 municipalities; and a 5K run/walk. The 8K, 5K, and .8 mile walk will start at 8 am. The .8 mile kids race will start at 1 p.m.
There will be awards for first, second and third place finishers in each category and age group. All proceeds from this event will be used by the Kiwanis Club of Greater Swedesboro and the Swedesboro-Woolwich PTO to provide supplies, programs and scholarships for children.
Locke Ave Fun Day continues with more activities starting at 1 p.m. The community can enjoy carnival rides and games, craft vendors, food vendors, pony rides, and local youth performances and entertainment on our main stage. A magnificent fireworks display will cap off the day at 9pm.
There is a great assortment of amusement rides for all ages this year. The rides include 100 Foot Slide, Round Up, Cartoon Theme Kiddy Train, Go Gator Coaster, King Swing, Tubs-of-Fun, Boomer’s Fun House, and Sky Rockets. The rides will operate from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m.
In addition to rides, attractions include a Petting Zoo, Henna Tattoo Artist and Face Painter. New for this year are the Boardwalk Games with a winner every game.
Please remember that Locke Ave Fun Day is a cash only event. Stop by the new picture taking station with props and snap some cool photos with your cellphone.
Discounted Carnival Ride Wristbands are on sale May 1 through May 24 at the Woolwich Municipal Building from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The cost for at the pre-sale wristband is $25 for unlimited amusement rides.
