Firearm Safety Kits Available Through Logan Police and Project Childsafe

BRIDGEPORT — The Logan Township Police Department, in conjunction with Project ChildSafe, will distribute free firearms safety kits to local residents at their police headquarters in Bridgeport. The safety kits include a cable-style gun lock.

The Logan Township Police Department is located at 125 Main Street in Bridgeport.

“Partnering with Project ChildSafe allows Logan Township Police Department to participate in a national effort to promote firearms safety education for all gun owners. Our goal is to promote safe firearms handling and storage in order to reduce the number of accidents and create a safer environment for our community,” said Logan Township Investigator Rob Taylor.

“We encourage residents to pick up a Project ChildSafe safety kit, which includes a safety curriculum and a cable-style gun lock. The locks fit on most handguns, rifles and shotguns,” he added.

“We are pleased to have Logan Township Police Department as a Project ChildSafe partner,” said Bill Brassard Jr., director of Project ChildSafe. “Project ChildSafe is an important step forward in helping ensure that all firearm owners fully understand their responsibilities with respect to the safe handling and storage of firearms.”

Project ChildSafe, a program developed by the National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF), educates community members regarding safe firearms handling practices and works to reduce firearms accidents in local communities. Project ChildSafe has distributed more than 37 million firearm safety kits throughout the country since 2003. The program is supported by the U.S. Department of Justice’s Bureau of Justice Assistance and the firearms industry.
