A Celebration of Diwali – Thursday, Oct. 10, 6-8 p.m. All ages. The evening will include a family craft, henna tattoos, food and a special Bollywood presentation from 7-7:30 p.m.

Recovering Veteran Exhibits Artwork- Artist and Gulf War Veteran, Phil Volk, gives an inside look at his ongoing mental health and addiction recovery through artwork and writings. The work is not for sale. “Unfinished Business” will be on exhibit from Oct. 15 – Nov. 30.

50 Top Interview Questions & Applications – Wednesday, Oct. 9, 1:30 to 3 p.m. Meet with an expert and learn the 50 most asked interview questions and receive guidance on the best way to answer. Review – Wednesday, Oct. 30, 1:30 to 3 p.m. A review will be made of all the skills discussed throughout the month of October.

Felting – Wednesday, Oct. 9, 6:30 p.m. Try your hand at learning to felt. Step-by-step directions will be given, and materials will be supplied. You’ll go home with a finished Halloween felted decoration. Space is very limited. Participants must be registered at www.gcls.org.

Yoga for Everyone – Fridays, Oct. 11 & 18, 10:30 a.m. Learn basic yoga positions, breathing exercises, and meditation techniques. Please bring your own mat or towel and a water to drink.Space is limited, be sure to register.  

Book Signing by Local Authors – Saturday, Oct. 19, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Local Author Lois M. Stanley and Russell C. Shiveler, Jr. with the Swedesboro-Woolwich Historical Society have published their new book titled, Postcard History Series:  Swedesboro and Woolwich Townships. The cost of the book will be $21.99. This book signing is sponsored by the Friends of the Gloucester County Library System. No registration is required.

Teen Writers’ Club – Monday, Oct. 14, 7 p.m. The Writer’s club will be on the second Mondays of each month. The time will be devoted to writing! You can work on your own writing or pull ideas from our binder. Your writings may be published in our Teen Express Literary Magazine.

Teen/Tween Gaming – Join us on Thursday, Oct. 17, 6:30-8 p.m. Play Xbox, Wii, DS’s, and traditional board and card games. Bring a friend and have a great time!

Literacy Buddies – We are looking for teens interested in becoming a Literacy Buddy. Teens can work one-on-one with a child who needs help with reading, math, homework, or learning English. Commitment is one hour a week on Mondays, Tuesdays, or Wednesdays from 4 to 5 p.m. Call 856-467-0111 for more information or stop in and fill out a volunteer form.

Teen Advisory Board – We welcome teens to join our Teen Advisory Board. Teen Board members will learn library skills, help plan teen activities, and/or work with children by becoming a Literacy Buddy. Call 856-467-0111 for more information.

FURever as Friends –   Monday, Oct. 7 & 28, 6:30-8 p.m. Visit with our therapy animals, read to them, share a picture book, brush their coat, and/or give them a treat. Some of our animals even do tricks! Registration is not required. Permission slips to visit our animals are available at the front desk.  October 28 will be our Howloween Celebration. Feel free to come in costume! Special snacks will be provided.

Marshmallow Monsters – Wednesday, Oct. 23, 4 p.m. Get in the mood for Halloween – Join us in making monster pops from marshmallows! They may be too cute to eat! Best suited for ages 6-12. Be sure to register at www.gcls.org or call 856-467-0111 as space is limited.

Literacy Buddies – Does your child need help with homework, reading or learning English – call us at 856-467-0111 and we will try to match your child with a Teen Volunteer. Literacy buddies traditionally takes place on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays, from 4-5 p.m. Let us know which day is best for you.

Toddlers & Babies:

Mother Goose – Tuesday, Oct. 22, 10:30 a.m. Bethesda Social Hall. Don’t miss the fabulous, entertaining, and educational Mother Goose! Be sure to register at www.gcls.org.

Tuesday Storytime (Laugh n’ Learn) – Storytime is a fun time! Listen to stories, sing songs, and make a craft!  We meet on Tuesday mornings at 10:30 a.m. October’s storytime dates are Oct. 8, 15, & 29. Storytime is best suited for ages 2-½ to 5Registration is required. 

Wednesday Storytime (Toddler Tales) – Join in the fun Wednesday morning for stories, dancing and crafts.  Wednesday storytime is at 10:30 a.m. Dates are Oct. 9, 16, 23, & 30 – Library meeting room. Storytime is best suited for ages 2-½ to 5. Registration required.

Baby Music Time – “Sing, Dance, and Play” – Bring your baby to a fun time of music – familiar songs, activities and fingerplays. Baby Time is held on Thursday, Oct. 17, 10:30 a.m. Space is limited, registration is required.

Toddler Music Time – “Sing, Dance, and Play” – Your toddler will enjoy a fun time marching, playing instruments, learning fingerplays, and singing familiar songs.  This month’s dates are Thursdays, Oct. 10 & 24, 10:30 a.m.  Registration is required as space is limited.
