EYRE TO BE INDUCTED INTO FENCING HALL OF FAME

WOOLWICH TWP. — Jane Eyre of Woolwich Township was voted into the USA Fencing Hall of Fame by association members. She will be inducted and honored at a dinner at next year’s Summer National Tournament that will be held in Philadelphia next July.

Eyre is the most highly decorated veteran fencer of either gender in the history of American fencing and the first veteran fencer included on the roster for the Hall of Fame. According to Eyre, “Many veterans have fenced since they were in college. I’m one of the “real” veteran fencers who actually started in their 40’s. Up to this point USA Fencing only honored people who had retired from competition or died. Since veteran fencers (over 40 years old) compete till their 70s and now 80’s they decided that it’s important to recognize those who have outstanding achievements.”

Eyre is the owner and coach at Infinity Fencing Alliance of Woolwich.
