Family and friends socially distanced and safely gathered at the East Greenwich Municipal Court on Jan 12 to help welcome the two newest police officers to the township, bringing the total number of officers to 21, filling the force to capacity.
James Golding and Austin Reynolds stood front and center with their families as they took turns placing their hand on the Bible and echoing the words of East Greenwich Mayor Dale Archer as he swore them in.
Archer said he was thankful for the police department in their outstanding efforts to make East Greenwich a “safe and secure township” and added, “We are all East Greenwich.”
Archer then went on to state that the officers were in his thoughts and prayers as he emphasized the goal at the end of each shift was to have the officers be able to “go home safely to your beautiful families.”
During difficult financial times, Archer has now not only been able to get the police force to full capacity, but also maintain the township’s budget five years running without raising any taxes.
