EAST GREENWICH — It is customary for a township’s governing body to recognize individuals and organizations at its meetings with a citation. On Feb. 9, the Kingsway Youth Football Association (KYFA) flipped the script by recognizing East Greenwich Township Committee with an encased football.
Randy Rossi, Township Liaison, speaking on behalf of the KYFA, the players, coaches, and parents, stepped up to the microphone to publicly thank the township’s governing body for all their support during the pandemic and the great job all season helping and supporting the KYFA in completing the season without any COVID-19 related issues.
“We serve approximately 300 kids,” RJ Finlaw, president of the KYFA, said. “The ongoing success of our youth football program hinges on the support of all the townships, which feed into our program.” East Greenwich Sam Giordano Football Field is home to the Kingsway Dragons Teams
The direction of youth football in the townships that encompass the youth Dragons is charted by individual volunteers who serve as board members, coaches, and concerned parents.
East Greenwich Mayor Dale Archer, in accepting the gift, said he was honored for the small token of appreciation on behalf of his fellow members on the township committee and department heads who work hard on providing the youth with a football experience that will contribute not only to their physical development but also to developing life skills in the future.
