All GCLS branch libraries are now open to the public but with limited access. Face masks are required.

ADULT IN-PERSON PROGRAMMING:

Writer’s Roundtable – Tuesdays, July 6 & 13 – 6:30-8:30 – The Writers Roundtable is a forum for writers of all levels and genres to meet and get feedback on their work and give feedback to others. The only expectation is having a willingness to share your work, not always easy, and taking the time to read and discuss the work of the others in the group. Please register for this program. Meetings are held at the Mullica Hill Library, meeting room A&B.

Camo Pants Rock Band – Patio Performance – Thursdays, July 15 – 7 p.m. The Logan Branch of GCLS is happy to welcome the Camo Pants Rock Band back this summer for a patio performance. Please bring a lawn chair or blanket and register for this event. Thank you to the band for donating their performance.

ADULT VIRTUAL PROGRAMS:

Paper Lantern Craft – Virtual Presentation – Tuesday, July 6 – 2 p.m. Join KCSPP presenter in making this intricate paper lantern. All supplies must be picked up at the library before the program. Supplies will be first come first serve to the first 20 adults. Must plan on attending the virtual program to pick up craft.

Know Your History with Mr. Ben – Tuesdays, July 6 & 20 – 3:30 p.m.  

Join GCLS’ historian, Mr. Ben, to learn about some fascinating local history. July 6 – Find out about Colonel Robert Brown, Patriot. Grab & Go Bags for adults once-a-month. IN-PERSON PROGRAMS

Summer Reading Kickoff Show Eyes of the Wild – Thursday July 1 – 6:30 p.m. – Logan Branch.  Eyes of the Wild is a rescue facility and will be bringing a variety of animals to teach us about. They will also discuss what they do, how they obtain their animals; protecting wildlife and the environment; doing your research before choosing a pet; habitats; communication skills; survival techniques; and the many unique behaviors that make these animals so amazing.

Advance registration required; limited to 40. This program will be held outside on our patio weather permitting. Masks are required for all attendees over the age of 2.

Music Play Patrol – “Tails and Tales – Thursday, July 8 – 10:15 a.m. – Logan Branch.   This program will be held outside on our patio weather permitting. All attendees over the age of 2 must wear a mask. Using your imaginations and electronic instruments, journey through stories about princesses, giants, heroes, and more. Space is limited to 40; advance registration is required for everyone attending.

Mad Science – Call of the Wild Workshop – Tuesday, July 13 – 6:30 p.m. – Logan Branch.  All About Animals brings children into the amazing animal kingdom. Children learn about diverse, astounding creatures on earth as they experiment with camouflage and get hands-on with real tooth and claw replicas. Children see what’s inside animals and discover which animals are truly spineless. The Animal Tracks Take-Home lets children create casts of animal tracks just like real naturalists. Registration is required; limited to 25 children ages 5 – 12. Program will be held outside on our patio, weather permitting. Face masks required.

Sing and Dance with Jay Sands at Locke Avenue Park – Wednesday, July 14 – 10:30 a.m. Bring your little ones to Locke Avenue Park to sing and dance with Jay Sand. They will have a blast. Bring a blanket and wear a mask. Space is limited and each adult and child must be registered. Rain date will be Wednesday, July 21.

Center for Aquatic Sciences at Adventure Aquarium – Tuesday, July 20 – 3:30 p.m. – Locke Avenue Park.  Enjoy seeing live animals and find out their “tales”. This program will be presented by the Center for Aquatic Sciences at Adventure Aquarium and will be held at Locke Avenue Park. Mask wearing and social distancing is required. Bring a blanket. Each adult and child must be registered. In case of inclement weather, this event will be rescheduled.

Andrews Big Show – Wednesday, July 21 – 2 p.m. – Join us for a comedy show with juggling, tricks and more at the Mullica Hill Library, Meeting Room A&B. All ages. Masks and registration are required for each person attending.

Digger and Dave – “Little Red Writes Her Own Story” – Friday, July 30 – 10:30 a.m. – Logan Branch. This program will be held outside on our patio weather permitting. All attendees over the age of 2 must wear a mask. Join us for a retelling of Little Red and the Wolf as told by Digger and Dave. Space is limited to 40; all attendees need to be registered.

July’s Challenge – Ages 4-12 – July 1-31Swedesboro Branch. Stop into the library and find Ellie, our stuffed animal friend. Get a candy prize if you find him.

In-Person Reading with FURever as Friends – Outdoors.  Sign up to read to one of our adorable therapy animals outdoors.  Each child will be given a ten-minute slot. Confirm the dates on our virtual calendar and call the library where you want to visit to schedule an appointment.

CHILDREN’S TAKE HOME ACTIVITIES 

Take Home:  Read and Do Bags. Patrons can check out one bag per child at the Swedesboro Library. Each bag will contain 3 library books, a coloring page, and a simple craft you can do with your child at home. Different themes will be available while supplies last. Please be sure to bring your bag to the circulation desk for checkout.

Grab and Go Bags for children – Stop in to pick up a “Grab and Go Bag” – one per child. Enjoy simple crafts you can do at home. There will be a new craft each week. Supplies are included. First come, first serve, while supplies last.  

Storytime Kits – Once a month, pick up a storytime kit. Kits will include one free book, activities, and a craft. One per family while supplies last.

Teen Art Club – Wednesday, June 2 – 6:30 p.m. Join GCLS and other teens on the library’s Discord channel. You can share art tips and techniques or reach out and get help to improve your art skills. There will be weekly challenges for everyone to try to complete.

Teen Game Nights:  Super Smash Bros Ultimate – Wednesday, June 9 – 6:30 p.m. 

Play some Super Smash Bros Ultimate in an online arena. You’ll need your own copy of the game and a subscription to Nintendo Switch Online to play. An email will be sent out shortly before the event containing the Arena ID. It will also be posted on our Discord server, where you can chat with others will you play.
