WOOLWICH TWP. — On Aug. 11th, a nationally syndicated TV show production crew descended on Woolwich Township historical sites to film parts of an upcoming episode.
Mt. Zion AME Church was the location of filming for a Season 3 episode of NBC’s weekend program, “Roots Less Traveled”.
“Roots Less Traveled” follows two family members, often from different generations, as they learn about their family history. The Mt. Zion AME episode features host and Philly native Faruq Tauheed and two members of the Camden County Truitt family.
The episode will air NBC10 on Saturday, Oct. 9 at 11 a.m. A Watch Party is being held by H.E.L.P. Inc. (Historical Educational Lodge-Hall Preservatory) at The Red Hen, 1303 Kings Highway, Swedesboro. Doors open to the public at 10:45 a.m. More details can be found on HELPinc.org.
H.E.L.P. Inc. will be hosting tours of their three historical sites on Oct. 23 starting at 10 a.m. The sites include: Mt. Zion AME Church and Cemetery, 170 Garwin Road, Woolwich Township; and the Richardson Ave. School, 70 Richardson Ave. in Swedesboro.
