WOOLWICH TWP. — Recent Kingsway Regional High School Graduate Kevin Gorman will be premiering his first film, “La Douleur Exquise”, on Jan. 8 in Kingsway Regional High School’s Eitel Theater at 5 p.m.
Gorman acted as writer, executive producer and this was his directorial debut. “La Douleur Exquise” is a 30-minute film that follows an up-and-coming film director from Los Angeles that bites at the chance to come to New York for the summer to direct a Broadway play. Things become complicated when he falls in love with the lead actress, and he must decide between continuing to follow his passion or stay with the woman he loves.
“I wrote and directed this film, La Douleur Exquise, with the idea of sacrifice in mind. It all is derived from the idea of what we must sacrifice to be great and succeed in our profession.
“This short story is a small glimpse into the lives of Roscoe and Victoria as they try to balance their relationship while also pursuing their dreams”, Gorman said.
This film is a small excerpt from a feature length script he wrote. “I wanted this to be a proof of concept so one day I can be able to tell the full story.”
During the making of his film, he worked with and directed actors that are studying at the New York Film Academy and Marymount Manhattan College. He also worked directly with a New York University Composer, to create a fully original score for this film.
Kevin is currently attending James Madison University where he is pursuing a double degree in Accounting and Media Arts and Design with a concentration in Digital Video in Cinema. He also has a minor in theatre.
He is looking forward to sharing his passion project.
