Annual Asparagus Festival, May 13 means food and fun

MULLICA HILL – The Harrison Township Historical Society is holding their annual Asparagus Festival to celebrate the first air shipment of fresh produce in the United States on May 13 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Historic Old Town Hall.

This event celebrates the first air shipment of 1,000 pounds of asparagus direct from Mullica Hill to Boston in 1922.

Come celebrate Spring with fun for the whole family. There will be a Battle of the Chefs with Asparagus recipe tasting.

You get to vote for your favorite. Tasting is $15 for adults and $5 for children.

Additional activities include a Scavenger Hunt and other children’s activities; 2023 commemorative t-shirts; a fresh asparagus farm stand; and special exhibits and a vintage cookbook sale.

This celebration will include VIP guests from our local town leadership, County Commissioners, and State representation to make this event a memorable one. This event will also be part of Mullica Hill Arts & Craft Festival that will be spread throughout the Historic District along South Main Street.  Food, music and much more.

The Historic Old Town Hall is located at 64 South Main Street, Mullica Hill.
