Kingsway names Kuzmick head boys varsity basketball coach

WOOLWICH TWP. — Kingsway Regional School District named Brian Kuzmick the new high school Head Varsity Boys Basketball Coach at the Board of Education meeting on June 15.

Coach Kuzmick comes to Kingsway with more than 20 years of coaching experience, which includes his recent stint as the Assistant Varsity Basketball Coach at Camden Eastside High School where he helped the Tigers win the 2022 NJ Group III State Championship. The Tigers won 38 games in two seasons while Kuzmick served as Assistant Coach.

“We are excited to welcome a coach of Brian Kuzmick’s caliber to our competitive athletic program. Brian is highly respected as a basketball coach, and his passion for the game and ability to relate to our young men will serve to build a great team culture,” said Superintendent, Dr. James J. Lavender.

Coach Kuzmick also served as Head Basketball Coach for several 12-17under teams for the Kingsway Youth Basketball Association, Gloucester County Youth Basketball League and AAU. From 2005-2015, Coach Kuzmick served as the Head Varsity Girls Basketball Coach at St. Hubert Catholic High School, leading the Bambies to 6 consecutive playoff appearances in the competitive Philadelphia Catholic League. Kuzmick also coached basketball at Archbishop Ryan High School and Archbishop Wood High School.

“We are very excited to have Coach Kuzmick onboard and look forward to infusing his passion and knowledge of basketball into our athletic culture. He is immersed in the community and has our students’ best interest at heart. Coach Kuzmick is already a Dragon, and we look forward to having him as a part of our coaching staff,” said Kingsway’s Athletic Director June Cioffi.

Kuzmick played collegiate basketball at Penn State Abington, where he was named to the Small College All Star Team in 1998. He is a 2001 graduate of Penn State University, State College where he earned his B.S. in Human Development and Family Studies. He presently works as an Account Manager for MHS Lift, Inc.

“I am excited for the opportunity to serve the community that I’ve been a part of for over 16 years in the capacity to be a positive influence on so many kids’ lives.  Kingsway basketball will be a championship level program on and off the court and a source of pride for the entire Kingsway community,” said Coach Kuzmick.

Coach Kuzmick will name his assistant coaches before the end of the school year. The summer league started in June.
