Trinity “Old Swedes” Christmas Concert, Dec. 17

SWEDESBORO — Trinity Episcopal “Old Swedes” Church invites the local community to join them for a Sights and Sounds of the Season Christmas Concert on Sunday evening, Dec. 17 at 7 p.m.

The program will include an aria from Handel’s Messiah and other classical and contemporary Christmas and Advent musical pieces. The finale will be a sing-along with the audience of well-known Christmas carols.

The program will feature soprano, Laura Nolan, a former member of the prestigious Voces Choir and the Rowan Concert Choir at Rowan University. David Reich will play selections for the organ and provide accompaniment on Trinity’s unique mechanical tracker organ that dates to 1893.

Refreshments will be served after the concert. This is a free event, and no tickets are required.

Trinity Episcopal “Old Swedes” Church was founded by Swedish Lutheran settlers who originally worshiped in a log cabin on the site in 1703. In 1789, the congregation affiliated with the Episcopal Church and is a member of the Episcopal Diocese of New Jersey. The current church building dates to 1784 and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
