WOOLWICH TWP. – On Sept. 16, the Woolwich Township Committee amended their Stormwater Management ordinance to include pet waste, feeding of wildlife, yard waste, and storm water.
Added to the original Stormwater Management ordinance was a section with the stipulation that all pet owners and keepers are required to immediately and properly dispose of their pet’s solid waste left on any public, or private property, not owned by the person. Violation is a fine up to $500.
The feeding of wildlife in any public park or on any other township owned property is prohibited. Exemptions include unconfined wildlife at environmental education centers, and feral cats as part of an approved Trap-Neuter-Release program.
Any person found in violation will be issued an order to stop the feeding. Violation is a fine of up to $500.
The litter control establishes fines for anyone littering on public or private property. Littering from a moving vehicle is also a violation. This violation is a fine from $100 to $500.
For yard waste, no one is allowed to put yard waste in the street unless it is for a scheduled collection. For collected yard waste, it must be 10 feet away from any storm drain, and put out no sooner than four days before scheduled collection. The violation is a fine up to $500.
They also added a section and exemptions for improper disposal of wastewater.
It is prohibited to spill, dump, or disposal of materials other than storm water to the municipal sewer system.
Exemptions: potable water line flushing excluding filter backwash and first flush for potable well development using chemicals; uncontaminated ground water; air conditioning condensate; irrigation water; flow from natural waterway; residential car washing; sidewalk, driveway and street wash water; firefighting activities; clean water rinsing of beach maintenance equipment with limitations; rinsing of de-icing equipment with limitations.
Fines could be up to $500.
