Community Helper’s Club: Tuesday, Aug. 26 at 4 p.m. This monthly meeting is to put like-minded tweens and teens together to discuss how to make our communities a better place. We will be talking about topics such as going green, donating supplies or even helping the elderly. Each month will have a new issue so you can bounce ideas off of each other. Ages 9 to 17. Please register as space is limited.

Smash Book Crew: Wednesday, Aug. 27 at 4 p.m. Smash books are a way to express yourself. There is no rhyme or reason. You can write, paint, color, attach photos, flowers, ribbons, glitter, stickers etc. The pages do not have to be numbered or in order. Let your creativity run wild while documenting your life experiences. All supplies provided unless you wish to use something special like a photo. We will do our best to print the materials you might need. Ages 13 to 17. Please register as space is limited.

Chair Yoga with Kristin from Seeds of Love Yoga: Aug. 13 at 1:30 p.m. Are you interested in Yoga but getting down on the floor seems inaccessible? Would you like other options and variations for your own body?  This is the perfect class for you! Chair Yoga uses chairs and other props to support you in each pose to empower your practice and you! Crafts for All Abilities: First Monday of the month at 11 a.m. Enjoy a fun and easy project – designed for special needs adults but open to anyone 13 and up. All materials provided. Please register.

Knit & Crochet Club: Tuesdays from 1 to 3 p.m.Learn to knit or crochet (instruction and materials provided). Get help or inspiration for your current or next project. All skill levels welcome.

All About Monarch Butterflies: Wednesday, Aug. 13 at 6:30 p.m. Learn about the beautiful Monarch Butterfly. Why are they important, how are they threatened, and how can you help protect them? Presented by Anna Alberici, Gloucester County Certified Gardener. Please register.

Learn Computers: Basic Computer Skills: Thursdays, Aug. 14 through Sept. 18, 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Do you feel a little lost or left behind when it comes to computers? Build your confidence as we start at the beginning and take it slow, discussing how to use a PC or laptop. Topics include: Logging on, mouse skills, fixing typos, keyboards, saving options, updating and customizing. Please register, and plan to attend all six sessions.

Wooly Wonders: Third Monday of the month from 10:30-12 p.m. In this needle felting group, we make small 3D shapes from wool. Whether you’ve never needle felted before or you’re an expert, this group is for you.  All materials provided. Registration required as space is limited.

Tinseltown Tuesdays: Tuesday, Aug. 19 at 5:30 p.m. This month we will be watching The Philadelphia Story (1940). This film revitalized Katharine Hepburn’s career after being branded box office poison. With James Stewart, Cary Grant, Ruth Hussey, John Howard. Popcorn will be provided.

3D Printer Certification: Friday, Aug. 8 at 2 p.m. & Tuesday, Aug. 19 at 6 p.m.Get certified to use our MakerBot Replicator+ 3D printer, and start your own Maker Movement today. Once you’ve completed this 1 hour course, you’ll be able to reserve time to use our 3D Printers at any GCLS location. Please register.

Silhouette & Decal Making Certification: Tuesday, Aug. 12 at 6 p.m., Friday, Aug. 15 at 2 p.m. & Thursday, Aug. 21 at 6 p.m. Learn to create custom vinyl decals and paper cutouts with our Silhouette Cameo. Once you’ve completed this 1 hour course, you’ll be able to reserve time to use our Silhouette machines at other GCLS locations. Please register.

Fighting Men Fighting Cancer: Tuesday, Aug. 12 at 7 p.m. This is a confidential education and support group offered in person to help survivors, patients and caregivers navigate the impacts of prostate cancer. The group is open to the public. Registration is encouraged but not required.  

Crafting the American Revolution: Wednesday, Aug. 13 at 2 p.m. Please join us as we make a Liberty Bell to celebrate the 250th Anniversary of the American Revolution! All supplies will be provided. Registration is required as space and supplies are limited.

Trinity Church Cemetery Tour with Ben Carlton: Wednesday, Aug. 20 at 6:30 p.m. Please join us for a Cemetery Tour of Trinity Church in Swedesboro where we will view the grave-sites of soldiers from the American Revolution and other well-known citizens. The tour will be led by local historian and author Ben Carlton and limited to 20 participants This event is sponsored by the New Jersey State Library REV250 grant.

Adult Origami Club: Thursday, Aug. 21 at 6:30 p.m. Join us for our next meeting of the Origami Club. This club is for individuals 15 and up. Origami designs and paper will be provided. Participants will have the opportunity to make various origami models of their choosing. All skill levels are welcome. Please register.

Teen Lock-In: Friday, Aug. 22 – 5:30 – 10 p.m. Join us for our annual Teen Lock-in. The event will start at 5:30 p.m. and end at 10 p.m. A parent/guardian must drop off and pick up each participant. Permission slips are mandatory. Upon receipt of the permission slip, staff will register each teen. There will be games, a craft and dinner will be provided. This event is sponsored by the Swedesboro-Woolwich Municipal Alliance (GCADA) Governors Council on Alcoholism and Drug Abuse.

Silent Teen Book Club: Saturday, Aug. 23 – 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. No assigned readings. No questions. Just you and a book or any other reading material. Ages 12 to 17. Registration required.

Family Movie Night: Monday, Aug. 25 – 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Join us for Family Movie Night. We’ll be watching The Sandlot, rated PG – For ages 3 to 12. Please be sure to register. Snack will be provided.

Family Board Games: Tuesday, Aug. 26 at 3 p.m. Join us for a fun afternoon of board games. You can play our games or bring one or two of your favorites along with a friend!  Best suited for ages 6 to 12.

Baby Music: Thursday, Aug. 28 at 10:30 a.m. Ages 1 month to 2 years. Dance, sing, and move along with your little one.

Teen Safe Space: Thursday, Aug. 28, 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. This is an all-inclusive club where teens can come to talk about things that have been on their mind. Note that we have a strict policy regarding inclusivity and there will be zero tolerance for any discrimination against one another. Registration is not required but encouraged.

Literacy Buddies: Are you interested in getting homework or reading help for your child?  Is your teen interested in tutoring? The Margaret Dombrosky Swedesboro Public Library provides weekly one-on-one help. Call 856-467-0111 if interested.

Take-Home Activities:

Read and Do Bags!:  Limited to one per child, each bag contains 2 to 3 library books, a coloring page, and a simple craft you can do with your child at home. Different themes are available while supplies last. Please bring your bag to the circulation desk for checkout.

Grab and Go Kits for Children: Limited to one per child, each bag includes simple crafts you can do at home! There will be two new crafts per month. First-come, first-served, while supplies last. 

Adult Programs:

Iris Folding Craft: Wednesday, Aug. 6 at 6:30 p.m. Learn how to use iris folding techniques to craft different patterns. Space is limited, registration required.

Mocktail Class: Monday, Aug. 11 at 6:30 p.m. Mix up your Monday night and learn how to make mocktails! Space is limited, registration is required. 

Horticulture Program: Color Your Plant Pot: Wednesday, Aug. 20, 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. Unleash your creativity using a variety of colorful and beautifully patterned fabrics and Mod Podge to create a world of color on your plant pot. Complete your design by bringing the outdoors in and accenting your pot with a live plant. All materials and plants supplied by instructor. Space is limited.  Presented by Rachelle Hasenberg of Inspirational Horticultural Therapy.
