MICKLETON — The East Greenwich Environmental Reading Room Library, which made its debut in the Fall at the new park on Quaker Road, has a winter home at the Mickleton Friends Meetinghouse on Kings Highway.
This lovely collection of books about nature is open to the public on Wednesdays from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. through March 25. In April, it will return to the bookcase in the park’s gazebo.
Many of the books are appropriate for pre-school children to develop an appreciation for nature. Native American books are also in the Meetinghouse library. These books can be read in the cozy Annex library at the meetinghouse, but do not leave the building.
There may even be a storyteller on hand to read to the children.
The Friends Meeting also has books on Peace, Quaker values, and Quaker history, which may be checked out. The Quaker books as well as the Native American books are listed on a database at: librarything.com/MickletonQuaker.
The Environmental Commission is pleased to partner with Friends Meeting Library to keep this resource available to the community through the colder months.
