DEPTFORD TWP. — The Center for People in Transition at Rowan College at Gloucester County (RCGC) hosts a number of empowerment, legal and financial workshops during the month of November.

“Widowhood: Getting Through the Financial Challenges” — Financial Advisor Monique Castillo will guide you through the steps you should take to maintain your financial footing when dealing with the loss of a spouse. The workshop will cover financial considerations for widows, how to begin to determine the income you will need and timely actions to be taken. You will leave with an actionable checklist to help you stay focused and move forward. The workshop will be held on Thursday, Nov. 17, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
“How to Use Google & Gmail More Effectively” — Join Lauri Kuder, Microsoft Office Master, to learn how to get the most out of your Gmail account. During this session you’ll learn the basics of email, how to save and attach files, how to use the “cloud” and how to create, manage and even share documents, photos and much more in Google. You will be walked through the steps of creating a Google account in class. If you’d like to use an existing account, please make sure you know your current user name and password. The workshop will be held on Monday, Nov. 7, from 6 to 9 p.m. This workshop is sponsored by Heart of South Jersey and People in Transition.
“Divorce Recovery” — Licensed Professional Counselor Jennie McQuaide, Ph.D., has designed this six-session workshop for men and women who are separated or divorced. Learn coping strategies for dealing with such issues as self-esteem, loneliness, anger, children’s emotions and communicating with the former spouse. The workshop will be held on Tuesdays, Nov. 8, 15, 29, Dec. 6 and 13, from 7 to 8:30 p.m.
“Happiness and the Holidays: How to Find Peace” — Certified Professional Life Coach Sharon Roth-Lichtenfeld knows that while the holidays are a time of family, joy and happiness for many, for those who have suffered a major loss or life transition, this time of year can bring up pain, sadness and struggle. Join her to learn strategies to take the “happy” out of the holidays and create peace instead. This workshop will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 9, from 7 to 9 p.m.
“Change Your Thoughts, Change Your World: The Effects of Stress on the Body” — Join Shannon White, WSW, LCSW, to learn how to control the impact that stress has on the body. This workshop will teach attendees how to effectively handle their stressors by changing the unhelpful thinking patterns that can create overwhelming emotions. Participants will leave with effective stress management tactics and a whole new outlook on changing their thoughts to more effectively navigate through life. This workshop will be held on Monday, Nov. 14, from 6:30 to 9 p.m. This workshop is sponsored by Heart of South Jersey and People in Transition.
“Celebrating the Holidays in New Ways” — Licensed Professional Counselor Jeannie McQuaide, Ph.D., will provide helpful advice to approaching the holiday season after experiencing death or divorce in the family. Other grieving individuals are welcome to attend. This workshop will identify new ways to celebrate so that individuals can rediscover the peace and joy of the holidays. The workshop will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 16, from 7 to 8:30 p.m.
