April 1: Police conducted a traffic stop on Center Square Rd. in the area of Pureland Dr. for failing to stop at a red light and an equipment violation. The operator, a 29 year old Philadelphia man, was found to have consumed alcoholic beverages prior to driving the vehicle. After completing field sobriety tests, the driver was arrested on suspicion of Driving While Intoxicated and his vehicle was impounded. He was transported to headquarters where he submitted to breath testing. He was processed, charged with Failure to Observe a Traffic Control Device, Maintenance of Lamps, Careless Driving and Driving While Intoxicated, and released to the custody of a friend in accordance with John’s Law. He has a date pending in Logan Township Municipal Court.
April 6: Incident to a motor vehicle stop for speeding, the driver, a 22 year old Philadelphia man, was found to be a wanted person from the Berks County (PA) Sheriff’s Department for Possession of Marijuana. He was taken into custody and transported to headquarters. There he was fingerprinted, photographed and remanded to the Salem County Jail to await extradition to Pennsylvania.
April 7: Upon stopping a vehicle for having an obstructed view and a license plate violation, police detected the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. A subsequent probable cause search revealed two mason jars containing suspected marijuana. The driver, a 26 year old Quinton man, was arrested and transported to headquarters for processing. There he was fingerprinted, photographed, served his summons charging him with Possession of Under 50g of Marijuana and Failure to Surrender CDS to Police and released pending a date in Logan Township Municipal Court.
April 18: Police were dispatched to Acme for a report of a possibly intoxicated male entering a vehicle. Police located the vehicle on Beckett Rd. and, after observing it fail to maintain its lane, conducted a motor vehicle stop. Upon making contact with the driver, a 25 year old Logan Township man, police observed signs of impairment. The driver failed the subsequent field sobriety test sand was taken into custody for Driving While Intoxicated. He was then transported to headquarters where he was processed, served summonses for Window Tint, Failing to Maintain a Lane, Reckless Driving and Driving While Intoxicated, and released pending a date in Logan Township Municipal Court.
April 19: Police conducted a motor vehicle stop for a vehicle travelling at an unreasonably slow speed on Beckett Rd. Upon making contact with the driver, a 23 year old Logan Township man, the odor of an alcoholic beverage was on his breath. Field sobriety tests were conducted and he was ultimately taken into custody for Driving While Intoxicated. He was transported to headquarters where he was processed, served summonses for Careless Driving, Reckless Driving and Driving While Intoxicated, and released pending a date in Logan Township Municipal Court.
April 20: Omega Engineering, 2 Killdeer Ct., had an estimated 60 pallets, with an approximate value of $240 stolen from their facility. Review of the surveillance footage in the area revealed a license plate on the trailer that was used to remove the pallets. The resulting investigation was able to identify the suspects as a 24 year old Carneys Point man and a 19 year old man from Gibbstown. Both also admitted to removing pallets from the same location in December 2017. In lieu of criminal charges being filed, the company allowed the men to make restitution in the amount of $480, the estimated value of the loss. No further police action was required.
April 25: Officers responded to UPS Mail Innovations, 200 Birch Creek Rd., for a panic alarm activation. Upon arrival it was learned that an assault had taken place. The ensuing investigation revealed that two employees became involved a verbal dispute but were separated by co-workers. One of the involved parties, a 23 year old Camden man, then re-approached the other, a 28 year old man who is also from Camden, and struck him in the head with a portable radio. The suspect later responded to headquarters where he was arrested and charged with simple assault. He was processed and released pending a date in Logan Township Municipal Court.
April 27: Police conducted a motor vehicle stop on I-295 for multiple equipment violations. While speaking with the driver, a 25 year old man from Macon, NC, the odor of marijuana was detected in the vehicle. A K-9 sniff of the exterior of the vehicle resulted in a positive indication as to the presence of narcotics within the vehicle. A subsequent probable cause search located a quantity of marijuana underneath the passenger seat, a loaded handgun in the glove compartment and drug paraphernalia. The driver was arrested, transported to headquarters, fingerprinted and photographed. He was served a summons charging him with Unlawful Possession of a handgun and Possession of Marijuana Under 50g. He was then released pending a date in Gloucester County Superior Court.
April: 29: Police received a call from a concerned citizen advising of a disoriented female entering a motor vehicle in the Wawa lot on and then departing the area onto Center Square Rd. The vehicle was later found in the area of Heron Dr. and the driver was failing to maintain her lane of travel. A motor vehicle stop was conducted and the driver, a 37 year old female from Carney’s Point, was found to have several active warrants for her arrest. Additionally, her license was suspended for a second, or subsequent, DWI. She was arrested on the outstanding warrants and a search incident to arrest uncovered a quantity of suspected marijuana and drug paraphernalia. She was transported to headquarters where she was fingerprinted and photographed. She was charged with Driving While Suspended for a 2nd or subsequent DWI, Possession of Marijuana Under 50g and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. She was then turned over to the Gloucester County Sheriff’s Department for transport to the Salem County Jail.
May 2: Officers were dispatched to UPS Mail Innovations, 200 Birch Creek Rd., for a report of theft. Upon arrival it was revealed that a 32 year old female employee from Woodbury had her black and gray Tommy Hilfiger backpack stolen from her locker. The bag contained personal items and approximately $20 cash. The total loss was estimated to be $80. A review of the surveillance footage in the area failed to divulge any information as to who was responsible for the theft.
May 3: Upon stopping a vehicle on Route 322 for a speeding violation, police detected the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. After the officer advised the occupants of the vehicle of his observations, the front seat passenger, a 24 year old Philadelphia man surrendered a vial to the officer which contained suspected marijuana. A subsequent probable cause search failed to locate any additional contraband. The passenger was then arrested and transported to headquarters where he was processed, served his summons charging him with Possession of Under 50g of marijuana and released pending a date in Logan Township Municipal Court.
May 5: A random Vehicle Registration Inquiry revealed that the registered owner’s license was suspended as was the vehicle’s registration. A motor vehicle stop was conducted and while speaking with the driver, who was confirmed to be the registered owner, police detected the odor of marijuana in the vehicle. The operator was also found to have active warrants for his arrest. A K-9 exterior sniff of the vehicle was conducted and the K-9 positively indicated to the presence of narcotics in the vehicle. Upon conducting a probable cause search, police located a quantity of suspected marijuana in a backpack in the passenger compartment.
The driver, a 33 year old Logan Township man, was arrested for the warrants and possession of marijuana and transported to headquarters. There, he was fingerprinted, photographed and served his summonses for Driving While Suspended and Possession of Under 50g of Marijuana. He was then released pending a date in Logan Township Municipal Court.
May 8: Police responded to Holdbrook Pediatric Dental, 553 Pedricktown Rd., for a report of theft. Upon arrival it was learned that between the close of business on May 1 and the start of business on May 2 an unknown actor(s) entered a locked office and removed cash and prescription pads from a locked cabinet. Video surveillance of the office during the timeframe has been requested and the Logan Township Detective Unit is investigating.
May 7: ABC Mailers, 500 Sharptown Rd., reported that a truck leased by their company had been stolen from the parking lot. The vehicle, a Freightliner 26’ box truck, was subsequently located on nearby Killdeer Ct. with the power liftgate cut off. A review of surveillance footage of the area was unable to identify a suspect(s).
May 9: An employee at VWR Scientic reported that sometime during her shift, an unknown suspect stole her phone from her workstation. Attempts to track the phone and view surveillance footage were met with negative results.
May 12: Police responded to an erratic driver complaint on I-295 near exit 14. Upon arrival police observed the vehicle enter a paved median, strike a guardrail and then return to the roadway. A motor vehicle stop was conducted and the driver was suspected of being operating under the influence of narcotics. Logan Township Police issued several motor vehicle summonses and turned the investigation over to NJSP who charged the operator, a 50 year old Maple Shade man, with DWI and related offenses.
May 15: Police conducted a motor vehicle stop for speeding. Upon making contact with the driver, a 38 year old Wilmington, DE man, the odor of marijuana was detected in the vehicle. A K-9 also indicated as to the presence of narcotics within the vehicle. A subsequent probable cause search revealed a quantity of marijuana packaged for distribution. The driver was arrested and transported to headquarters where he was charged with Possession of Marijuana Over 50g, Possession of Marijuana with the Intent to Distribute and Failure to deliver CDS to Police.
May 15: Police responded to a report of theft at Pullman Inc., 2227 High Hill Rd. Upon arrival it was discovered that during the overnight hours of May 10, an older model Dodge Durango entered onto the property and removed a 2010 Bri-Mar trailer valued at $4,300. The investigation into identifying the two white male suspects is ongoing.
