“Hedge Your Bets” on Student Success at GCC Foundation Gala

derby web DEPTFORD TWP. — South Jersey philanthropists can hedge their bets on behalf of student success by attending the Gloucester County College Foundation’s 33rd annual Gala on Saturday, April 26 from 6 to 11 p.m.

Sporting a lively Kentucky Derby “A Night at the Races” theme, the signature fundraising event will take place at Auletto Caterer’s Sunset Ballroom. Guests will sip mint juleps, enjoy fine dining, bid in auctions and dance to the Juliano Brothers’ music, secure in the knowledge that all proceeds go to student scholarships.

Throughout the evening attendees have the opportunity to bet on the races and win an array of prizes. Such include four tickets to the Belmont New York Horseracing Association, a year-long Hand and Stone Spa membership, dinner for six at That’s Amore Italian restaurant in Collingswood, a Barnes and Noble color Nook and a flat-screen TV.

The Gala opens with a cocktail hour and hors d’oeuvres followed by dinner at 7:15 p.m. Guests have their choice of filet mignon Lyonnais with horseradish sauce, pecan encrusted chicken topped with peach dressing or salmon with bourbon reduction sauce. The dessert menu offers mint julep mouse and a cordial cart.

Aside from the festivities, the GCC Foundation will honor Mullica Hill resident David Slack, a private donor whose contributions total more than $50,000, in addition to its corporate sponsors. In August 2013, he established the Kathleen L. Slack Memorial Scholarship to honor his late wife. This year’s Gala is made possible thanks to the generous donations of Johnson Matthey, NuStar Asphalt Refining, Garrison Architects and PBF Energy.

Tickets are $150 per person and can be purchased by calling 856-681-6202. For more information, contact GCC Director of Development Raymond Page at rpage@gccnj.edu.

GCC’s 250-acre campus is located at 1400 Tanyard Road in Deptford, right off Exit 56 of Route 55.
