Personal Finance, Enrichment Workshops Offered at GCC

workshop webDEPTFORD TWP. — The Center for People in Transition at Gloucester County College is offering an assortment of financial planning and personal-enrichment workshops during the month of April. “PowerPoint for Family Projects and Presentations” — Expert Certified Microsoft Access Developer Lauri Kuder will assist parents in developing a working knowledge of PowerPoint skills to guide their children with schoolwork or to create presentations for community events or volunteer projects. It meets Monday, April 14 from 5:45 to 8:30 p.m.

“Financial Aspects of Divorce” — Joseph Johnson, owner of Main Street Financial, will explain a broad range of monetary issues that individuals face when going through divorce. This workshop enables individuals to avoid costly mistakes, clarify expectations and begin planning for a “successful” divorce. It meets Tuesday, April 15 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

“What is Your Yellow Brick Road? Creating the Roadmap to the Ideal You” — Certified Professional Life Coach Sharon Roth-Lichtenfeld will guide individuals as they embark on a journey of self-discovery and development. When people experience difficulties because of death, divorce or separation, the road back to happiness and wholeness has many stops along the way. Participants will learn how to overcome setbacks and negativity to create their ideal selves. It meets Wednesday, April 16 from 7 to 9 p.m.

“Laws of Separation and Divorce” — Craig Klayman, Esquire, will speak on grounds for divorce, court procedures, alimony, equitable distribution, custody, visitation rights and other concerns. It meets Tuesday, April 22 from 7 to 9 p.m.

“Ace the Interview: Get Ready… Set… Interview!” — Workshop facilitator Vickie Tully will describe the essential skills and share the critical knowledge necessary for successful interviewing. Participants will take part in guided discussions, mock interviews, role playing and more. Individuals will walk away with the tools they need to “ace” the interview. It meets Wednesday, April 23 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

“Bereavement” — Licensed Professional Counselor Jennie McQuaide, Ph.D., will provide strategies for coping with feelings of loneliness, frustration, anger and grief following the death of a spouse or loved one. The death of other close relatives and friends is also highly traumatic. Participants will obtain more information on community resources and can share their experiences with other recently bereaved individuals. This is an eight-part series that meets Tuesdays, April 29, May 6, 13, 20, 27, June 3, 10 and 17 from 7 to 8:30 p.m.

“How to Avoid Costly Housing Mistakes Before, During and After Divorce” — RE/MAX Connection Agent Brian Ziegenfuss will explain how to protect one’s desired interest in the sale of a home and to maximize profits. Issues of lifestyle changes, new budgets and housing affordability will also be addressed. It meets Wednesday, April 30 from 7 to 9 p.m.

Gloucester County College’s 250-acre campus is located on Tanyard Road in Deptford, just off Exit 56 of Route 55.
