Kings Things celebrates 31st Year of its mission to feed and clothe the needy

kings things store.inddSWEDESBORO — Over the course of the years we have found that our greatest asset is our core of volunteers who range in age from 14 to 95 years old. Their normal duty is 3 hours per shift on a weekly basis.

Thrift Store Hours are Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., Thursday 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., Friday 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Saturday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Furniture Store Hours are Monday through Friday 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Saturday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Funds generated at the Thrift Store and Furniture & More store are used to feed the needy and are available in grants to the families in the Kingsway High School sending district (Swedesboro, Logan, Woolwich, East Greenwich, and South Harrison).

Over the 2013-2014 Winter Heating Season, Kings Things has helped 18 families who were out of heating oil. Kings Things has distributed approximately $40,000 in emergency aid to the needy in the 2013 – 2014 timeframe.

Kings Things has helped families on an emergency basis with utilities such as electric, water, sewer, even transportation passes. Information regarding resources that will assist clients in regaining a more balanced and less stressful way of living is available.

The process for becoming a recipient of Kings Things’ services is as follows: a completed application; a review of the application with a member of Kings Things Staff; provide forms of identification: photo ID, recent utility bill, proof of present income; and review of applications by members of the Board.
