RICHEAL – Irene Richeal (nee Tarka), 89, of Clarksboro, passed away on May 27, after a brief illness, surrounded by her children and grandchildren.
Irene was the youngest and longest survivor of a family of eight children of John and Casimiera Tarka of Philadelphia. Irene was born in 1923 and lived in Philadelphia until she married Leonard Richeal. The family consisting of three sons moved to South Jersey and lived in several towns including some at the shore before finally settling in Westville.
Irene was an active member of St. Anne’s RC Church, where she was involved with the Altar and Rosary Society and many fundraising (cake baking) activities for the church. She worked as a secretary for legal firms for many years until she joined the John E. Hand and Sons Co., a nautical compass firm. She and several co-workers later purchased the firm from the family and continued operating the business until Irene retired at age 75.
Irene is survived by her three sons, Leonard and wife Judith of Woodbury, Rodger and wife Nancy of San Jose, CA, and James and wife Debbie of Jackson, NJ; and Linda Richeal of West Deptford. She has eight grandchildren, Michael and wife, Jodie and their children, Lauren, Marlena and Patrick; Debi and daughter Abigail; Daniel and partner Spike; Diana and husband Allan Blades and their children, Emma, Gillian and Darby; Marelise and children, Justin, Caysen and Kamryn; Theresa and husband Matt Holmes with children, Miles, Peyton and Megan; David Richeal; Cheryl and husband Rob Horn and children Devan and Brendan; step grandchildren John and Carolyn Cristanti.
Interment Eglington Cemetery, Clarksboro.

SOLEM – Kenneth Solem, age 78, died at home in Mullica Hill on May 28. Upon graduation from Paulsboro High School in 1952, he joined the United States Navy. He then entered Rutgers College, graduating with a BS in 1958. He received a Master’s Degree at the University of Pennsylvania in 1962, and continued graduate studies at Temple, University of Kansas and Penn. He was a member of Phi Delta Kappa.
Ken was a professor at Gloucester County College, teaching mathematics from 1967-1994. He was a former chairman of the Math and Science Department at the college. Previously he taught in Camden, Cherry Hill, and West Deptford.
Ken enjoyed golf and his many friends at the Woodbury County Club. He was a member of the Woodstown Moose Lodge as well as many professional organizations.
Survived by his wife Berminna (nee White), his three children Kenneth C. (Kristen) or Wenonah, Signe Stubits (Jay) of Mullica Hill and Jon Erik (Kim) of Bellevue, Washington. Ken was a devoted grandfather to 11 wonderful grandchildren; Eddie, Rebecca, Ryan, Rachel, Colin, Jake, Luke, Zachary, Lauren, Jacqueline, and the late Erich.
Ken is also survived by two brothers, Raymond and Norman and a sister Marie Elzey. Brothers Bernard, Oscar, Robert, Harold, Rudolph, and sisters Bernice Pitman, and Lillian Peck previously deceased him.

STILL – Edward H. Still, age 83 years, of Clarksboro died May 31 in his home. Mr. Still was born in Camden and raised in Pennsville Penns Grove and Paulsboro and he lived in Clarksboro for over 50 years. He was a veteran serving in the United States Army in the 8063rd MASH during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Still retired as a welder with DuPont Chambers Works, Deepwater after 38 years of service. He was a member of the Vintage Chevrolet Club of America, Antique Automobile Club of America, NJ Region V.C.C.A and the Paulsboro Road Rods. He was an avid Chevrolet collector and has one of the lowest “QQ” license plates in New Jersey.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 51 years, Ruth Still (nee Miller) of Clarksboro; his children, Leanne and Jason Kephart of Gibbstown, Mary Kathryn and Stephen Kearney of Mickleton; his grandchildren, Paul, Christopher and Joshua Kearney, Stephen Alexander Kearney; his brother Charles Still of West Deptford and his sister, Carolyn and Richard McLeer of West Deptford.

STAUFFER – Wayne J. Stauffer of Mickleton died on May 31. Aged 70 years.
Wayne was an easy going family guy who had a passion for fishing. Born in Camden, Wayne was a proud US Army Veteran, serving from 1963-1966. While he was stationed in Munich, Germany, he met the love of his life, Gerda, whom he married and affectionately called his German souvenir. A perfect day for Wayne was spent aboard his boat PJ (Price and Joy) on the Delaware Bay fishing or crabbing.
He is the beloved husband of 47 years to Gerda (nee Koestle); he is the beloved father of Lisa Ann, who gave him 3 grandsons; Jonathan Stauffer, Noah and Austin Finsterbusch, whom he loved very much. He is also survived by his beloved son, Wayne Jr. who gave him another very much loved grandson Justin and a beloved daughter-in-law, Angie. He also had a son, Michael, who was also loved very much. He is also survived by a brother, Ralph and a sister, Shirley DeVaull and many nieces and nephews. He is the loving master of his Chocolate Lab, Cocoa. His family meant everything to him and he meant everything to them.

STACKHOUSE – Charles W. Stackhouse, 76. Charles was much like John Wayne’s The Quiet Man. He came from a family of 14 children and probably had trouble being heard with so many voices. He enjoyed quiet things: woodworking, camping, walking the boards in Ocean City, and relaxing after a day of work at VWR’s warehouse. Charles had a magic touch with baking cookie especially snickerdoodles. He joined the Army in 1954 and served mostly in California. He was discharged in December of 1957 and shortly thereafter came to Swedesboro to join his brother, Don. Charles met Linda Sharp but she gave him a cold shoulder. He persisted in pursuit of her affection and they married in 1977. They were blessed with a daughter, Cheryl and a son, Michael, and a grandson, Aaron. His survivors include brothers Don, Gary, and Roy, sisters Evelyn Saeger, Eleanor Rapine, VJ Martin, Judy Bonner, Ann Hager, and Donna Lee Kirk.

RANGE – James D. Range, age 83 years of Clarksboro, died June 10 in Underwood Hospital, Woodbury. Mr. Range was born and raised in Lenoir City, Tennessee and came to the area when the Army stationed him in Paulsboro. He retired from Mobil Sales as Shop Foreman after 33 years of service. Mr. Range enjoyed working and spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Dorothy Range (nee Haddock) of Clarksboro; his daughters, Linda Range and her husband Douglas Stuart of Tabernacle, Carole Range PhD of Moorestown; his grandchildren, Sage and Shaye Stuart; his brother, George Range and his sister, Alice Clemmer, both of Lenoir City, TN. Mr. Range was predeceased by two brothers and two sisters.

DAMASK – Kimon Arthur “Greek” Damask, 93. Kimon was born March 3, 1920 to Ella and Arthur and was one of 11 children. He grew up in Swedesboro and attended the local high school where he lettered in football, basketball, and baseball. In his early years he worked at Riverview Beach Park for the Damask Concessions. After high school he went to work for DuPont from 1938-1941. With the start of WWII he enlisted in the Marines and fought in the Pacific Theater. He was awarded medals for: Good Conduct, American Campaign, WWII Victory, Asiatic Pacific with Silver Star, and a Presidential Unit Citation Ribbon with a Bronze Star. Kimon met his lovely wife, Viola on a blind date in Washington, DC. They wed on Valentine’s Day, 1946 and had two beautiful daughters, Karen and Kimberly. They went on to raise their family in Swedesboro and were married for 64 years. Not only was Kimon a dedicated family man he also dedicated his extra time to the Raccoon club, Swedesboro Council (served as Welfare Director), Woolwich Fire Company, and as a Little League umpire (even though he had no sons). Later when he had time off from Exxon Mobile he would work with his brother, Tine at Damask Candies and Damask Painting. Kimon went on to work for Exxon Mobil until retirement in 1982.
Kimon was a wonderful husband, father, Pop Pop, and Great Grandpop. He had such a great outlook on life and definitely lived it to the fullest. He and his wife went on numerous trips across the country and visited many casinos. Some of the family’s fondest memories were spending time on his boat, the Vi-Kim-Sue. Many wonderful memories were made with this incredible man and he will truly be missed.
In addition to his two daughters, Karen Trace and Kimberly Ruppert he is survived by granddaughters, Nicole Johnson and Krystin Hercker, great grandchildren Brad Johnson “the boy”, Brenna Hercker, and Jax Hercker, and sister Athena Terry, Mary Masten, and Ella Stone.
Services were held in the Daley Life Celebration Studio, Swedesboro. Burial Lake Park Cemetery, Woolwich Township.

SCHAEFFER – Helen Baum Schaeffer, age 93, of Mullica Hill, died June 14 in Shady Lane Home. Born on Sept. 22, 1919 in Altoona, PA, she was the daughter of the late Herman and Lillian Baum. Helen was the wife of the late Russell G. Schaefer. She is survived by three daughters, Rita S. Reuter and her husband, Bud , of Richwood; Mary Anne Dennis of Marlton, and Michelle S. “Mickey” Fox and her husband Gunnar of Ewan.
Helen is also survived by 7 grandsons, Buddy Reuter, Christopher (Bridget) Reuter, Joshua (Natalie) Reuter, Jonathan (Samantha) Reuter, Martin Ehret, Gunnar (Moira) Fox, Wyatt Fox and 4 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by one sister, Madeline (George) Hutcheson of Montgomery, AL. She was pre-deceased by 2 sisters. Helen enjoyed all sports and set her schedule around the Phillies.

ZIEGLER – Robert P. Ziegler, age 55 of Logan Township, passed away June 14. Born in Philadelphia, Bob has lived in Logan Township for the past 5 years. He was employed by CM3 Building Solutions, Ft. Washington, PA as a HVAC Technician.
Bob is survived by his wife Sandra (nee Sarclette), his children, Jon Sarclette and Brandi Mounts. Also 5 grandchildren, a sister Elaine (Robert) Mackfee, a niece Beth Ann Miles and his trusted companion, Abby.
