MULLICA HILL — Mullica Hill’s 2nd Saturday of the Month Festival returns on Aug. 9 from 1 p.m. until 7 p.m.
The theme of Augusts’ event is Farm, Food and Family, so whether you are a toddler or in your sixties or seventies, there will be a great event in store for you. Main Street has an impressive lineup of activities planned.
Some of the headline events are as follows: Spiderman visits the Mullica Hill Fire Department at 2:30 p.m. and later in the afternoon at the Rode’s chicken BBQ that runs from 4 to 7 p.m. Bring your children for a tour of the firehouse.
Pose for pictures with Spidey as he brings home the message of Fire Safety. There will be a photographer on stand-by if you would like a professional photo of the exciting visit to the fire house. Have your children wear their superhero costumes or t-shirt.
Frozen in August? The most popular princess from the past year, the beautiful Elsa from the movie Frozen, will be appearing from 2 until 4 p.m. on the ice covered front porch of Mullica Hill Floral located at 39 S. Main Street. We would love to see the town filled with little princesses, princes and superheroes.
We are excited to meet the new farm on the block, welcoming Cecil Creek Farm from nearby East Greenwich, now in their first summer of operation. Be sure to stop by their tent to hear about the exciting things that are happening at their farm on Democrat Road in our neighbor town of Mickleton.
Cecil Creek will be having an activity for the children. You may recall that the New Town Press featured an article on their farm just a few months back.
There will be plenty of craft, food and wine vendors lining the street. One of our most talented guest vendors are a couple from Clarksboro, the Wuelfings. Marie makes exquisite lamp work bead jewelry and her husband, Otto, creates exquisite pieces from semi-precious stones. You can find the Wuelfings in front of Amazing Grace Bookstore.
Heritage and Wagonhouse Wineries will also be offering wine tastings. Heritage Winery will be in the driveway by the Papernut and Emerald City Tea shops and Wagon House will be in front of Blueplate Restaurant.
For the third straight summer, Rode’s BBQ will be serving from 4 to 7 p.m. in the beautiful floral lined yard behind The Gathering Room at 41 S. Main Street in Mullica Hill. Tickets can be purchased in advance by calling Diane Villecco, Chairwoman of the Event, at Papernut 856-223-9400 or visiting Dave at The Old Mill, Rocco at Kings Court, Donna at Sisters, Hazel at The Gathering Room, Lynn at Emerald City Tea or Lynne at Mullica Hill Arts Centre.
The price of $15 includes a half chicken, mac and cheese, corn, roll, and iced tea or lemonade. Make it a family event and get all the relatives together to eat and listen to the music.
It would be a great show of support if all members of the Mullica Hill Merchants Association purchase tickets to the barbecue. A phone call (856-223-9400) is all that is needed to have your tickets delivered personally to your place of business. A great idea would be to tie in the annual office picnic with our chicken barbecue.
The festival’s biggest attraction will be a free rock concert starting at 4 in the afternoon until 7 in the evening. The show will feature one of the area’s top cover bands, The Real Imposters. You will have to look far and wide to find a band out there that can sing the hits of The Beatles better than this band.
The special performance will be at Sisters, in the rear side yard, located at 39 S. Main Street. Bring your chicken BBQ with you. Seating will not be provided so bring a beach blanket or drop off your lawn chairs before the event. Children are welcome.
Saturday, Aug. 9 from 1 until 7 p.m. is a day for the entire family and all proceeds from the event will go back to The Merchants Association for events for the year.
It is not too late to rent a vendor or food space. Call 856-223-9400 for more information.
