Aug. 4: Douglas Zee of the Harrison Township Police Dept. stopped a male subject for riding his bicycle on the wrong side of the street. Upon being asked for identification, the male subject, later identified as Gustavo Bermudez-Perez of Bridgeton, NJ, surrendered a small clear plastic baggie containing marijuana and a smoking device made out of aluminum foil. Bermudez-Perez was charged with possession of under 50 grams of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was released on a summons pending court.
Aug. 6: The site manager for Leigh Court Estates reported sometime between Aug. 4 and 6, unknown actor(s) entered the construction storage trailer and removed a GE Stainless Steel dishwasher and a 6 foot section of Fypon railing. The total value of the items taken is $640.00. It is reported that the trailer was secured at all times in question and there are no signs of forced entry. The investigation is being handled by Ptl. Ryan Golden.
Aug. 7: A Cedar Rd. resident reported that sometime between Aug. 4 and 6, unknown actor(s) entered his property and removed two buckets of scrap metal. The scrap metal was unsecured outside of his residence and is valued at $120. The investigation is being handled by Sgt. Kyle Stuart.
Aug. 7: Ptl. Pat Morris was alerted to an unregistered vehicle traveling on Mullica Hill Rd. in the area of Edison Parkway by the ALPR system affixed to his patrol car. The vehicle was subsequently stopped for the motor vehicle violation. The driver of the vehicle, Eleanor Passarella, provided Ptl. Morris with written consent to search the vehicle. The search yielded 7 glassine baggies containing blue wax folds stamped with “Iron Man” containing a white powdery substance suspect of being heroin. Passarella was placed under arrest, transported to police headquarters, where she was processed and charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance. She was additionally issued motor vehicle summonses for unregistered vehicle, vision obstruction, and possession of CDS in a motor vehicle. She was released on summonses pending court.
Aug. 7: Ptl. Mike Flannery conducted a motor vehicle stop on Stephen Sweeny Way of a vehicle traveling 55 miles per hour in a 35 mile per hour zone. During the stop, Ptl. Flannery was granted written consent to search the vehicle for contraband. The search yielded a clear plastic baggie containing suspected marijuana. The driver, Najee R. Hunt-Holley, along with front seat passenger Brandon Pichardo, and rear seat passenger Marshall McShan were all placed under arrest for possession of a controlled dangerous substance. All were transported to police headquarters where they were processed and charged with possession of under 50 grams of marijuana. The driver was additionally issued motor vehicle summonses for speeding and failure to exhibit his driver’s license. All subjects were released on summonses pending court.
Aug. 7: Ptl. Mike Flannery stopped a vehicle on Washington Ave. for speeding. While speaking with the driver, Daniel M. Kaufman of Mount Sinai, New York, Ptl. Flannery detected the odor of marijuana emanating from the vehicle. Upon being questioned about the odor, Kaufman surrendered a glass smoking bowl with burnt marijuana residue, and a metal grinder containing suspected marijuana. Kaufman was arrested and transported to police headquarters where he was processed and charged with possession of under 50 grams of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was additionally issued a motor vehicle summons for speeding. Kaufman was released on summonses pending court.
Aug. 8: A resident of Willow Oaks Lane reported a radar detector stolen from his unlocked vehicle. The theft occurred sometime between 11 p.m. Aug. 7 and 9:30 a.m. Aug. 8. The radar detector is described as an Escort 955I and valued at $500.00. The case is being investigated by Ptl. Jonathan Thompson
Aug. 8: An AT&T representative reported the theft of 24 copper grounding bars from the cellular tower location at 302 Richwood Rd. The theft occurred sometime between June 4 and Aug. 8. The total value of the theft is $1,000. The case is being investigated by S/O Kenneth Rodgers.
Aug. 8: The owner of Delsea Well Drilling reported that a former employee, Robert Mayers, has been fraudulently using the business’s line of credit over the past several months in order to purchase copper and aluminum. Mayers is then selling the items for scrap at Camden Iron. The owner of the company was directed to the Municipal Court to sign complaints for theft and fraud. The case is being investigated by Ptl. William Widener and Inv. Adam McEvoy.
Aug. 10: S/O Kenneth Rodgers conducted a motor vehicle stop on Ellis Mill Rd. for a motor vehicle violation. Upon approaching the vehicle, a hypodermic needle was observed in plain view on the center console. The driver of the vehicle, Colby Johnson provided written consent to search the vehicle. The search yielded additional hypodermic needles and suspected crack cocaine. Johnson was arrested and transported to police headquarters where he was charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance (crack cocaine), possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of hypodermic syringes. He was additionally issued motor vehicle summonses for maintenance of lamps, vision obstruction, suspended drivers license, and unlicensed driver. He was released on summonses pending court.
Aug. 10: Ptl. Anthony Greenwald conducted a motor vehicle stop on Mullica Hill Rd. in the area of the Route 55 overpass for making an improper U turn. Upon speaking with the driver, Lauren Wright, it was discovered that she had an active criminal warrant out of Camden City for $1,100. Upon exiting the vehicle, multiple pills fell out of Wright’s lap and onto the street. The pills were determined to be Xanax and Oxycodone. Wright then provided written consent to search the vehicle for more contraband and additional pills were discovered. She was arrested and transported to police headquarters where she was charged with two counts of possession of a controlled dangerous substance without a valid prescription. She was released on her own recognizance on the warrant from Camden City. She was released on summonses for the criminal charges out of Harrison Township pending court.
