SWEDESBORO — Kings Things is in need of non-perishable food donations.
As our community knows, Kings Things has been a staple facility in helping those in need. Founded and supported by St. Clare of Assisi Parish, Bethesda Methodist, Trinity Episcopal Church, First Presbyterian, and First Baptist parishes, it has helped supply food to our less fortunate neighbors.
Each Thanksgiving and Christmas they provide turkey dinners. At Christmas, presents are given to the children of the family recipients. Members of the various parishes distribute these foods and gifts.
Unfortunately, the needs of these families exist throughout the entire year. Summer time is for vacations; hence contributions of non-perishables decrease dramatically. The local food banks have the same problems so that quantities of these items that Kings Things would normally buy have been greatly reduced.
They are asking the community to pick up this deficit by donating spaghetti sauce, pasta, mashed potatoes mix, canned tuna, pancake mix and syrup, cereal, canned tomatoes (diced, whole or stewed), mac and cheese, peanut butter and jelly.
Please bring donations to Kings Things. Their hours are Monday through Thursday 10 to 4 p.m., Friday 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Saturday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Volunteers are always welcome. Just come to the store on Kings Highway and sign up.
The founders and volunteers thank you for your continued support.
