Philadelphia Murder Has Local Ties

EAST GREENWICH TWP. — Alex Rojas-Garcia, son of Wilfredo “Wil” Rojas of East Greenwich, was of fatally shot in Philadelphia in January.

Rojas was recently seated as the Gloucester County NAACP branch third vice president and this fall ran for election to the East Greenwich Township Committee.

According to media reports, Rojas-Garcia, 34, was killed in the early morning hours of Jan. 24 in the Feltonville section of Philadelphia after being shot multiple times while driving his SUV. Leonaldo Rivera, 25, of Camden, was named by Philadelphia police as a suspect. The police are also looking to identify two males and three females who are persons of interest in the case.

Rojas-Garcia was the son of Rojas and his former wife, Aleida Garcia, and previously had a career in banking. At the time of his murder, Rojas-Garcia was enrolled at Temple University, majoring in advertising.
