New Superintendent of Schools Appointed in the Swedesboro-Woolwich School District

O’Neil has lived in West Deptford for over 25 years and currently resides in West Deptford Township with her husband, James, and her three children. O’Neil earned a B.A. in Elementary Education and Sociology, and a M.A. in Educational Leadership from Rowan University, and an Ed. D. in Educational Leadership from Widener University.

O’Neil has been employed by West Deptford Township Schools as the Green-Fields Elementary School Principal and now serves as the Chief Academic Officer. Currently, she is an Adjunct Professor at Rutgers University.

Previously, she also served as an Adjunct Professor at Salem Community College and the Delaware Valley College Educational Leadership Graduate Program. O’Neil currently serves on the state level AchieveNJ Advisory Committee, the Gloucester County Curriculum Consortium Board and was appointed to the Rutgers (Camden) University’s Educational Advisory Committee.

For the past several years, O’Neil also served as a member of the Board of Directors for the New Jersey Principals and Supervisors Association (NJPSA), NJDOE Evaluation Pilot Advisory Committee, The 2012 New Jersey Distinguished Student Teacher Selection Committee, and the Gloucester County Professional Development Board. In 2013 and 2012, she also served as a peer reviewer for the national Race to the Top-District (RTTT-D) competition.

In her current role, O’Neil is responsible for the development and implementation of all curriculum in grades K-12, providing professional development to the district teaching staff, the analysis of standardized testing data, and the organization of the kindergarten registration process. O’Neil is an instructional coach (grades K-12), the Teacher/Principal Evaluation Project Director, the Anti-Bullying Coordinator, oversees the roles and responsibilities of the District Literacy Coaches, serves as the District Title I, ESL, NCLB, and the District Testing Coordinator.

O’Neil’s favorite part of her job is researching best teaching practices and bringing that research to the classroom.
