Route 322 & Kings Highway intersection widening project begins

TRENTON — New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) officials announced the beginning of the project to widen the intersection of Kings Highway and Route 322 in Woolwich Township.

R.E.Pierson, will close the southbound lane of Kings Highway between the intersection of Route 322 and Garwin Road to begin construction of an additional lane on the roadway near the Route 322 intersection.

The following signed detour is expected to be in place until the fall:

Route 551/Kings Highway southbound

·       Motorists wishing to travel southbound on Kings Highway will be directed to turn right onto Route 322

·       Turn left onto Paulsboro Road

·       Turn right onto Kings Highway southbound

Following the completion of this stage of the project, the northbound lane of Kings Highway will be closed in the same area to facilitate construction of an additional lane on that side of the roadway.

When work is complete on Kings Highway, additional lanes will be added on Route 322 in the vicinity of the intersection. NJDOT will provide advance notice before any additional lane closures or detours are implemented as a part of this $5.6 million federally-funded project.

The precise timing of the work is subject to change due to weather or other factors. Motorists are encouraged to check NJDOT’s traffic information website www.511nj.org for real-time travel information and for NJDOT news follow us on Twitter @NJDOT_info or on the NJDOT Facebook page.
