DiGIOVACCHINO — John DiGiovacchino, age 41, died Thursday, July 23 in Otselic, NY in a tragic motorcycle accident. John is survived by his wife, Christine (Karst), his parents, his two brothers, Mark (Grace Bafna) and Joseph (Giselle), his niece Avery, as well as loving in-laws, a host of long-time friends and many loving aunts, uncles and cousins in both the United States and Canada.
John was a Commander in U.S. Navy. He grew up in Clarksboro, the first son of Anthony and Katherine DiGiovacchino. As a child, he developed a love of aviation, graduating from Kingsway Regional High School in 1992 before going on to earn a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Penn State and receiving his military commission in August 1996. John was designated a Naval Aviator in March 1999, and then reported to NS Norfolk, Virginia for training in the E-2C Hawkeye. Following completion of his training, John reported to the Black Eagles of VAW-113 where he participated in several deployments onboard the USS Abraham Lincoln in support of Operations Southern Watch and Enduring Freedom. In October 2003, John was accepted for the United States Naval Test Pilot School (USNTPS)/Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT) Cooperative Program and reported to Wright-Patterson Air Force Base where he earned a Master of Science in Aeronautical Engineering. In August 2005, John reported to USNTPS in Patuxent River, Maryland as a member of test pilot Class 129. Following his test tour, John served as a Department Head for the Golden Hawks of VAW-112 in Pt. Mugu, California and later reported to the E-2/C-2 Airborne Tactical Data System Program Office, PMA-231, in Patuxent River, Maryland. John has accumulated over 2,639 flight hours and more than 270 arrested landings in 22 aircraft types. He has been awarded the Air Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, Naval Achievement Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal and numerous unit commendations. Services were held at the McBride – Foley Funeral Home, Paulsboro. Interment at a later date in Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Virginia. CARLTON — Florence E. Carlton (nee Neuschafer), age 84 years, died July 23 at her daughter’s home in Pitman. Born in Pennsauken, she lived in Pitman from 1950 to 1976, and then moved to Swedesboro. She was employed by CBS Records in Pitman as a Press Operator. Florence was a member of the Harrisonville United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir and taught Sunday School. She was an accomplished seamstress, quilter, crafter, and baker and was known as a very giving person. She was predeceased by her husband of 37 years, Samuel Bennett Carlton, Jr., and her favorite dog, Mandy.
She is survived by her daughter Linda (Arthur) McHugh, and son Bennett (Teresa) Carlton, grandchildren; James, Kathleen, Emily and Joanna McHugh, Justin, Richmond, and Shelby Carlton, and great granddaughter Cora McHugh. Also survived by her brother, David (Beatrice) Neuschafer.

KRATZER — Wayne C. Kratzer of Mullica Hill, passed away at home with his wife and two daughters by his side on July 24. Wayne is survived by his wife of 49 years, Carol (Hollinger) Kratzer, daughters, Mary Virginia Fitton (Gary) and Kathy Massey (JT) and his grandchildren, Chelsey Lynn Fitton, Patrick Wayne Massey, and Ryan Joseph Massey. He is also survived by his sister Fern Calhoun of Arizona. Wayne was predeceased by his parents, Clyde and Mary Virginia (Beam) Kratzer and siblings, Kathryn Gerace, Helen Grazier, Charlotte Kratzer and Claude Kratzer. BURNETTE — Leonard L. Burnette age 78 years of Mickleton died Monday August 3 in Vitas Hospice, Stratford surrounded by his family. Len was born in Woodbury, raised in Paulsboro and graduated from Paulsboro High School class of 1954. He was a veteran serving in the United States Navy for 29 years and he retired as Carpentry Supervisor from Mobil Research with over 25 years of service. Len was also president of the Cerebral Palsy Center in Sewell. He enjoyed skiing, boating, working on cars and carpentry. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Eva Burnette of Mickleton; his daughters, Lori Burnette of Garner, NC, Kimberly and Michael Dunn of Clarksboro; his grandchildren, Kurtis and Sean Michael Dunn; his great granddaughter, Savanna Dunn and his sisters, Marlene Mehaffey and Gerry Weatherby. MILLER — Barbara A. Miller (nee Rainey) age 79 of Swedesboro, died on Aug. 9. She was a resident of Swedesboro her entire life and was a member of Bethesda United Methodist Church. Barbara is survived by her husband of 58 years, Edwin T. Miller (Ted). She was the mother of Susan L. Everest, mother-in-law of Russell C. Everest, grandmother of Erica and Veronica Everest of Avondale, PA., sister of Ruth E. PROTO — Andrew J. Proto Jr. age 78, of Mullica Hill passed away on Monday, August 17, 2015. Born in Philadelphia, he moved to Gloucester County in 1965. Andrew was a police officer and in 1979 he owned and operated Proto’s Auto Body. After selling the business, Andrew was employed by South Jersey Transportation Authority for 25 years. He sang and cut a record with the group “The Five Aces” in 1959. He adored his family, and always “Said What He Meant & Did What He Said.” He loved cruises, motorcycle riding, boating, fishing, going to the casinos, eating at restaurants, and playing cards. Andrew especially loved Lindy’s gravy and cooking.
He is survived by his loving wife Linda (nee Pappers) of 58 years. Andrew is also survived by his loving children, Andrea (Bob) Sprague, Michael (Dawn), and Ronnie, beloved grandchildren, Vicki Lynn, Tara, Sandra, Anthony, Ronnie Jr., Danielle, Jeremy, and Samantha, and eight great grandchildren. MOORE — Cathi Lynn Moore 8/19/15. Cathi was known for her great heart. When Cathi wasn’t engulfed in her favorite novel, she was spending time with her family and grandchildren, especially Sedona her partner in crime. Growing up Cathi enjoyed hanging out with her sisters and family BBQing. She loved spending time with her friends and worked with her best friend, Terry at Shoe Show. When she wasn’t spending time with family she was home curled up watching her favorite show, The Walton’s. Cathi and Matt celebrated 34 years of marriage and were blessed with two children, Matthew and Kristine. She lived for her children and prided herself on raising them to be respectful. She is survived by her husband Matt, her two children Matthew (Jessica) and Kristine (JD) and two grandchildren Sedona and Matthew. She is the sister of Cindi (Larry) Vaughan, Crisi (Dave) Wood and the late Cheri Dalbow. She was the daughter of the late Robert and Dolores Dalbow. She is also survived by her nephews, nieces; Jason, Larry, Niki, Scott, and Shaun, in-laws and nephews and nieces; Joan Moore (Matt’s Mother), Mori Moore, and Nancy Moore-Gregal, Josh, Chad, Todd, Ashley, Hunter, and Savannah.

WILLS — Joseph P. Wills age 68, of Mickleton, passed away on Aug. 19. Born in Philadelphia, he served in the Army during the Vietnam War. Joe was an accountant and retired from DuPont in Wilmington, DE. He enjoyed playing golf, going to the casinos, buying lottery tickets, and collecting coins.

CAMPBELL — Daniel C. Campbell, age 59, of Mickleton passed away Aug. 20. Born in Charleston, WV, he was a graduate of Highland High School, and received his Master’s Degree from Glassboro State College. Dan was a PE teacher and administrator at Harrison Twp. Elementary School, and was an administrator at Delaware Valley School for exceptional children in Hamilton, NJ. He retired as an administrator from Clearview Middle School in 2009. Dan enjoyed sports, children, golf, family, and friends.
He is survived by his wife Jane Campbell (nee White), his children, Colin and Katharine Campbell, his mother, Clare Campbell, his sister Kimberly Crawford, his father-in-law, George White and family, many nieces, and nephews.
