SWEDESBORO — passMORE DANCE is opening its new dance studio at 1242 Kings Highway in downtown Swedesboro, this month.

passMORE DANCE brings a wealth of experience and opportunities to those who want to compete and to young dancers who just want to take their dance to the next level.

What makes this studio different from many other schools, is that the teachers, in addition to being experienced and extremely proficient as dance educators, all still actively perform. This makes their choreography fresh and innovative, and means they can offer exciting performance opportunities for their students.

The owner/director, Robin Passmore, danced competitively with Delaware Valley Jazz Company, out of Adams Dance in Elmer, from 1992 through 2005. In 2006, Robin and her teacher/mentor, Barbara Adams, opened a studio in Woodstown, the Dance Conservatory. Their dancers continued to compete as Delaware Valley Jazz Company until Miss Barbara’s semi-retirement in 2014.

In 2014, Robin started the competitive troupe, passMORE DANCE co. With Miss Barbara’s official retirement this past June, Robin is starting this new school right on Kings Highway in Swedesboro.

One of Robin’s former students, Amanda Viereck of Woolwich Township, was chosen as the 2008 Dance Spirit Cover Model. Robin’s students have performed locally but also on prestigious stages in New York City, at regional workshops like the DC TapFest, and even in the Kennedy Center.

It is certainly not necessary to dance competitively, but this year’s competition team had a very successful national finals experience. They attended the Encore National Finals in Hershey, PA in July. Woolwich residents Rachel Murdock and Christina Mallozzi both received Platinums in a very tough senior solo division for their tap solo’s.

Rachel, Christina, and Madison Meredith were in a hip hop group, “I Don’t Need It,” which received a Diamond adjudication and placed fifth in the teen group category and was one of only five teen and/or senior groups selection to compete in the Standing Ovation Showdown. Rachel, Christina, and Madison were also in a tap group, “Survivor,” which also received a Diamond adjudication and placed fifth overall in the senior group category.
