HEADSTRONG IS RUNNING AHEAD OF CANCER IN MULLICA HILL

MULLICA HILL — On Sept. 7, the HEADstrong Foundation, in conjunction with Hill Creek Farms, will host a 5K race and 1 Mile Fun Run/Walk in Mullica Hill.

Participants will have the unique opportunity to race through a beautiful apple orchard and working farmland. For the little ones under 10 years old, there will be a Little Apple Dash along with the 5K and 1M races.

After the race, athletes and their families can indulge with some caramel apples, apple cider, and Hill Creek’s famous homemade apple donuts.

“As a family business which places great value on traditions, we are excited to introduce what we hope will be a new tradition for families in South Jersey in support of the HEADstrong Foundation. We could not think of a better way to engage people than by sharing our family orchard and welcoming folks to begin the fall season with a great activity for all ages in support of an amazing cause,” explained Fred A. Sorbello, the President of Hill Creek Farms.

Cheryl Colleluori, President of the HEADstrong Foundation and mother of Nick Colleluori, said, “We’re very excited to partner with Hill Creek Farms and provide runners with an incredible opportunity to run such a unique course. Each location included in the Running aHEAD of Cancer Series holds significance to HEADstrong, and as a resident of the South Jersey community surrounding Hill Creek, I’m excited to see the community come together and make a statement of support, encouragement, and love for families affected by cancer.”

Hill Creek Farms is a 63-acre farm located outside of Mullica Hill. The Farm first began growing apples in 2006, when Farmer Fred initially planted 3,300 apple trees. The orchard now has 17,000 apple trees and also grows plums, Asian pears, and nectarines.

The goal of Hill Creek is to give people an opportunity to visit a working farm and enjoy agricultural tourism with their families. The Farm now offers farm-to-table dinners, ready-to-eat meals, and farm-to-your-table services using the freshest vegetables directly from the Farm. They also have an on-site bakery and a commercial cider mill, and they are approved to serve and sell wine from Auburn Winery.
