CONKLIN — Emily G. Conklin, Mullica Hill, homemaker, gardener, and volunteer, died at home at age 96 on March 22, 2019. Emily was the daughter of Robert E. Godfrey and Hazel Wells Godfrey of Mt. Laurel, NJ. She was a graduate of Moorestown High School and New Jersey State Teachers College at Glassboro.
She was predeceased by her husband James H. Conklin, son Roger, daughter Amy, and granddaughter Anna Marie Morgan. She is survived by sisters Gladys Carlson and Genevieve Schachle; daughters Loann Scarpato (Victor), Marie Linton (David), and Frances (Dennis Sullivan); son James (Gelise); grandchildren Victoria Welborn, Victor Scarpato III, Grant Lean, Riley Morgan, and James Conklin; and great-grandsons Isaac and Michael Morgan.

RATIU – Gregory D. Ratiu, 72, of Carneys Point, affectionately called BuPu, passed away Aug. 5.
Born in Brasov, Romania, he has resided in Carneys Point for the last four years coming from Florence, NJ. He was an engineer for Inductotherm Corp. in Rancocas, NJ. Gregory was associated with St. Clare of Assisi Parish, a huge Beatles fan, loved to cook and an outdoorsman who enjoyed an occasional Scotch.
Gregory is survived by his wife of 49 years, Rodica, his children, Adrian (Dan), (Jessica Garozzo) Ratiu and Raluca Ratiu (Julian Hinson), his grandchildren, Patrick, Luciano, and Rio, his nephew Gabriel (Florentina) Popescu. He was predeceased by 2 sisters.

CANNON – Theodore Anthony Cannon, a resident of Mickleton, passed away on Aug. 21. He was 86.
Theodore, or Ted as many knew him, enjoyed many things this life had to offer. He enjoyed rooting for the Philadelphia Phillies, spending time fishing on his boat and relaxing on the beaches of Wildwood Crest, NJ. Ted also adored watching his grandchildren at their sporting events.
In his early years, while serving proudly for our country in the United States Air Force, Ted traveled all over the United States playing basketball with the other Airmen and even to Mexico. One of Ted’s favorite pastimes was playing Pinochle with his friends Charlie, Boz and Bill. He also enjoyed having lunch with his C.B.A. sales crew and frequent trips to the casino.
He is the beloved husband of the late Diana Cannon; devoted father to Patricia Maccarone (Vern), Michael Cannon (Maryann) and Theodore Cannon, Jr. (Jeanette); loving grandfather to Nina Frame (Brad), Matthew Maccarone, Andrew Cannon and Danielle Cannon; dear brother to Anthony Cannone. Theodore is also survived by his dedicated caregiver, Pat.

PIGLIACELLI — Mary E. Pigliacelli, 67 of Ocean View, DE, passed away Aug. 25 at home. Born in Philadelphia, PA. she resided in Delaware for the past two years, and was formerly of Mickleton and Oaklyn, NJ.
Mary was a graduate of Immaculata Univ., Class of ’74 and Del. County Nursing School, Class of ’83. She was a registered nurse from 1984 to 2016. Mary was employed by the Senior Citizens United Community Services Organization (SCUCS) in Audubon, NJ for 20 years. She was a member of St. Clare of Assisi Parish, had an affinity for Seniors, was devoted to her family, had a wide circle of friends and was a professional shopper.
Mary is survived by her husband of 44 years., Charlie, her children, Eliz (Joseph) Tursi, Patricia and her (fiance Brian), Michael (Betty Jo) Pigliacelli, 9 grandchildren and her brother John Paul (Donna) Marceau.

DANNER — H. Rodney Danner, 82, of Harrisonville passed away on Aug. 30 surrounded by his family. Born in Paulsboro, Rodney was the son of the late Henry & Leona Gudbransen Danner. He retired from Mobile Oil as an electrician but he also operated his own business for many years, Danner Electric.
An avid NASCAR fan, he and his wife, Rosemary, often traveled to many of the races with their trailer in tow. Rodney also enjoyed watching PBR Bull Riding, was one of the original members of the Paulsboro Road Rods and served on the South Harrison School Board.
He is survived by his wife, Rosemary (nee: Moore), children, Karen Frye, Linda Fox and Wayne Danner and his wife Cathy, a brother, Bruce Danner and his wife Peggy-Ann, seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, his brother Ralph Danner and two son-in-laws, William “Bill” VanAtter and James Fox predeceased him.

SHRADER — Doris E. Shrader, 85. She was always a woman on the move. The sound of music had Doris taking off for the dance floor. Any music was fine, but she enjoyed Polka more than anything. Earlier years found her working at a sewing factory, a talent she never lost. As a mom she’d make most of her children’s clothes. And she worked at Jim El’s as a clerk and later at K-Mart.
Doris was always active in her communities; President of the American Legion Auxiliary, a member of the Monsanto Bowling League and the Woman of the Moose in Sydney N.Y., where they relocated for 20 years. A young Doris West would meet a handsome guy, the late Bill Shrader, at Martin’s Ice Cream Parlor in National Park. Within the year they’d be married; their secret was to never go to bed angry. They’d be blessed by 4 children: Cheryl Michael (Gerry), Debra Weil (Charles), Vicki Jones (Henry) and William Jr. (Trisha); 8 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

CALHOUN — Patricia Rose Bonner Calhoun, 64, known to family and friends as “Patty”, of North Fort Myers, FL, formerly of Leesburg, NJ, passed away Sunday, Sept. 1 in North Fort Myers. She was born Feb. 5, 1955 in Camden, NJ to William and Esther Bonner, now deceased.
Patty was of the Roman Catholic faith. She graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a degree in engineering. She worked for the State of New Jersey as Principal Engineer and was the only female in that role during her tenure. She was a member of the Eastern Star for many years. She retired and relocated to Florida in 2013.
She spent her life doing things to celebrate her loved ones. While she lived in New Jersey the youngsters in the family always looked forward to the weeks of summer they spent at her home, including trips to the beach, out on the boat, plays, museums and always Storybook Land. Every birthday and holiday was made better because of her special touch.
She was a gifted pianist, a wonderful baker and cook and whenever her family asked for her advice (which was often), she provided perfect and sensible assistance with an abundance of love. She traveled widely and she generously offered her time to causes dear to her heart, which included rescuing orphaned pets in NYC after 9/11.
She is survived by her sister, Margaret Harris (Randy) of Bristol TN; brother, John Bonner of Newfield, NJ; two step children, Robert Calhoun, Jr (Kim) of Southampton, NJ and Lisa Peer of Southampton, NJ; nephew, Jason Harris (Preston) of Atlanta, GA; niece, Lauren Harris of Knoxville, TN; nine step grandchildren and seven step great-grandchildren. She will also be missed by her Persian cat of 17 years, Fluffy.
Patricia is predeceased by her devoted husband, Robert Calhoun, who passed in 2018, as well as two stepsons, Edward James Calhoun and Keith Naylor Calhoun.

BARBAGALLO — Vernon A Barbagallo, 85, of Swedesboro passed away Sept. 2 at his home. He is survived by his loving wife, Alfina (nee Caltabiano); his children, Stephanie Barbagallo, Maria Smigel (John), Joyce Barbagallo and Salvatore Barbagallo (Cheryl); two grandchildren, Erin and Rosario; sisters, Angeline Russo and Alfina Mann; Vernon was born to Salvatore and Agatha Barbagallo in a house just a short distance from his current home of 64 years. He was predeceased by his sister, Mary Gangemi and brother John Barbagallo.
For many years, Vernon was part of the Swedesboro / Woolwich Township farming community. In addition, in 1959, he took a second job with Anchor Motor Freight in Wilmington, DE, transporting and delivering new GM cars. During his 37 years there, he had an outstanding safety record, driving 3 million miles along the eastern USA with no chargeable accidents. He participated in and won many truck rodeos, winning driver of the year in 1990 for the NATA.
In the mid-1970’s, he served Woolwich Township as Building Inspector. Subsequently, he was on the Planning Board and Township Committee, where he formed a lifelong friendship with then Mayor, Albert Stecher. Also in those years, he started a Christmas tree farm. All his children and many nephews learned the value of discipline and hard work as his perfectly shaped trees were cared for through the year and sold at Christmas time. In his retirement years, he maintained the truck fleet at SPS Mechanical; fulfilled a long-deferred dream of owning a motorcycle; traveled to Australia and Italy with his wife and experienced the joy of being a grandfather.

EVANS — Jon H. Evans, age 75, of Auburn passed away at home with family by his side on Sept. 10.
Jon is survived by his devoted wife of 55 years, Kay Kragler Evans; his son and daughter-in-law, Daniel J. and Kimberly Evans; his daughter and son-in-law, Kathryn and John Ward; his grandchildren, Benjamin and Abigail Evans and Charlie and Vivian Ward; his sister, Judy Carmolingo; and his brothers & sisters-in-law, Stanley and Sandy Evans, Bob and Maryann Evans, and Bill & Helen Evans.
Raised in Williamstown, he was the son of Pete and Elizabeth Evans. He graduated from Williamstown High School in 1962 and retired from his job as an electrical supervisor at DuPont Chambers Works in 2000 after 38 years of service. He was a New Jersey licensed elevator inspector and an elevator subcode official in Salem County.
He was a life member and former president of the Auburn Volunteer Fire Company.
In addition to his parents, Jon was predeceased by his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Horace and Elizabeth Kragler, his brothers-in-law, Russel Carmolingo, Al Kragler, and Bill Kragler; and his sister-in-law, Maxine Evans.

MATTSON — William F. Mattson, age 74 of Auburn, died Sept. 15 in Inspira Medical Center in Vineland.
Born in Swedesboro, William was the son of the late Sanford F. and Winifred E. (Kelly) Mattson. He was a 1963 graduate of Woodstown High School and worked as a materials handler at Thomas Scientific in Swedesboro. He was a US Navy veteran, a member and past Post Commander of the Woodstown American Legion Post #237, and a member of the Catholic Community of the Holy Spirit Church/St. Joseph’s Church.
William is survived by his four siblings and several nieces and nephews.

OSBORN — James Osborn, 83. Jim loved auto racing and attended many events from stock car races at Alcyon Lake to NASCAR races at Daytona. In his spare time, he used his talents as a woodworker creating everything from intricate scroll saw pieces to furniture. Of course, it was a family affair with his late wife, Ruth, adding the finishing touches. The two spent many weekends at craft shows selling his creations.
In his younger years he was a Cub Scout leader, Swedesboro Town Council member and Sunday School teacher. Jim was a dedicated member of Bethesda UMC since the 60’s. He thoroughly enjoyed many weekends at Tall Pines Campground with friends and family. Earlier years found him using his talents with people as a sales manager for MannKraft Corporation.
A pastor told a young Jim about a lovely girl, the late Ruth Dunn. Their first date was to a stock car race; she cheered more than he. Jim knew she was the one. Their marriage was blessed with two children; James (Judy) and Ross (Amanda) and later by grandchildren, Karen Dunn (Dan), Jimmy, Ross and Ellis; and 3 great-grandchildren. He is survived by his brother, Herb (Shirley).
