No Municipal Tax Increase Again In East Greenwich

EAST GREEWNICH – East Greenwich Mayor Dale Archer announced at the Council meeting on March 23 that for the sixth year in a row, the township will not have a municipal tax increase.

In addition, the town’s surplus just broke $2 million as well. “Eight years ago,” Archer stated, “there was less than $15,000 in surplus.” Now not only does the town have a surplus of over 2 million, but in addition, Archer also managed to reduce the debt by $5 million. An achievement that “takes my breath away,” Archer concluded.

Archer went on to announce that, in conjunction with the Board of Commissions, there will be a Community Shred Event on April 10 at the Municipal Building from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Also, at the same location, on April 24, there will be a tree giveaway event, where various trees will be given away to members of the community. This is a first come, first serve basis.
