Writer’s Roundtable – Tuesdays, Sept. 7 & 21 –   6:30-8:30 – The Writers Roundtable is a forum for writers of all levels and genres to meet and get feedback on their work and give feedback to others. The only expectation is having a willingness to share your work, not always easy, and taking the time to read and discuss the work of the others in the group. Please register for this program. Meetings are held at the Mullica Hill Library, meeting room A&B.

History Book Club – Monday, Sept. 13 – 7 p.m. – Join us for our monthly history book club. This month’s selection is Countdown 1945: The Extraordinary Story of the Atomic Bomb and the 116 Days that Changed the World by Chris Wallace.

The Gifts of Imperfection – Wednesdays, Sept. 15, 22, & 29 – 4 p.m. Join Dana Rahmel with NJ Hope and Healing for a weekly book discussion of the title The Gifts of Imperfection by Brené Brown as we explore themes of strength, resilience and positivity and create a space for support and encouragement as we begin navigating the “new normal.”  Join us on Zoom.  Go to www.gcls.org, click classes and events tab, click online events calendar to find this event.

Grab & Go Bags for adults once-a-month. Stop in to pick up a “Grab and Go Bag” – one per adult. Enjoy simple crafts you can do at home! Supplies are included. First come, first serve, while supplies last. We would love for you to snap a photo of your finished crafts and share with us on our Instagram page.

September’s  Challenge – Ages 4-12 – Sept. 1 through 30  – It’s Library Card Sign-up Month!  Join us for a fun game of Bingo – Can you find these items in your library?  Get bingo and get a prize!  

Storytime:

Tuesdays, Sept. 7, 14, 21, & 28 – One class at 10:30 a.m. and one class at 11:15 a.m. Wednesdays, Sept. 1, 8, 15, 22, & 29 – One at 10:30 a.m. and one class at 11:15 a.m. 

Tuesdays and Wednesdays are the same program so please only choose one of the days to come. 

Crafts will be available to take home. Masks are highly recommended. Space is limited and social distancing is still in effect.  Each adult and child must be registered.  See our online calendar for dates, times, locations, and changes. 

In-Person Reading with FURever as Friends – Sign up to read to one of our adorable therapy animals.  Each child will be given a ten-minute slot. Confirm the dates on our virtual calendar and call the library where you want to visit to schedule an appointment.

Literacy Buddies – Are you interested in having homework or reading help for your child?  Is your teen interested in helping a child?  We provide weekly one-on-one help.  Call 856-467-0111 if interested.  

CHILDREN’S TAKE HOME ACTIVITIES 

Take Home:  Read and Do Bags!  Patrons can check out one bag per child at the Swedesboro Library.  Each bag will contain 3 library books, a coloring page, and a simple craft you can do with your child at home.  Different themes will be available while supplies last. Please be sure to bring your bag to the circulation desk for checkout.

TEENS/TWEENS

Teen Writers’ Club – Monday, Sept. 13 – 7 p.m.  If you love writing, need new ideas, like sharing ideas/stories/poems, and/or learning new writing techniques and types of writing – this club is for you.  We also have started a literary magazine that your works can be included in! Teen/Tween Book Club – Saturday, Sept. 18 – 12:30 p.m. Join us for our monthly book club.  This month we will be discussing our summer read, The Hobbit by J. R.R. Tolkien.  Selections were chosen by the past year’s teens. Go to www.gcls.org to register.  Due to the need for social distancing, space will be limited.
