Logan Township Council Discusses Key Projects and Prepares for Logan Day

LOGAN TWP — The Logan Township Council convened on Aug. 20 to discuss renovation projects and events.

Councilman Chris Morris expressed his gratitude towards Police Chief Joseph Flatley and the entire Logan Twp Police Department for their efforts in organizing a successful National Night Out event, which was well-received by the community.

Councilwoman and Deputy Mayor Bernadine Jackson provided a reminder for the upcoming Logan Day Celebration. The event is set for Saturday, Sept. 21 with a rain date of Sunday, Sept. 22.

Logan Day will be held at Township Line Park, located at 2155 Township Line Road, from noon to 5 p.m. Councilwoman Jackson urged any residents who want to volunteer with the celebration to reach out to her directly or the mayor’s administrative assistant, Jared Rollins.

PoliceChief Joe Flatley reported on his recent experience attending the FBI National Command Course at Quantico, a leadership training program tailored for agencies with 50 officers or less. He expressed his appreciation to the Mayor, Council, and Chief Financial Officer/Administrator Will Pine for allowing him the opportunity to attend this prestigious course.

Chief Flatley noted that the program was incredibly beneficial, providing insights and innovative ideas that would be applied within the Logan Township Police Department.

The township engineer gave the council a few updates on several ongoing projects. The Phase Two road improvement project to repair Sharptown Road has been authorized, with bidding set to open on Sept. 10.

Along with this the engineer provided updates on the construction of pickleball and basketball courts. This project faced some delays due to other repairs.

However, it is slated to begin on Sept. 3 and is set to be completed before Logan Day. Temporary striping will be used to ensure the courts are functional while waiting for the final coating to cure.
