MULLICA HILL — The year is flying by, and we can’t believe Mullica Hill Fall Festival is right around the corner! Once again you are invited to the 52nd Annual Mullica Hill Fall Festival on Oct. 12 and 13 hosted by MH Events and Farm House Design.
The entire street from the Old Mill to Blueplate will be filled with everything fall. This will be the biggest event ever according to Hazel Dilsaver, owner of Farm House Design and MH Events. “I have been running the event for over 20 years and it is a true labor of love,” she said.
“I opened my shop here in town during the fall fest going on 24 years ago. In fact, I am having a 24th Anniversary party this very weekend with open house sales, music, refreshments and cheese and jam pairings because who doesn’t love cheese?”
There will be live music, over 50 crafters in three craft courtyards, BBQ truck, boba tea truck, kettle corn, face painting, magician, escape room, two bounce houses, yard games, pumpkin painting and so much more. There will also be a glass blowing demonstrations, make you own bouquet at Mullica Hill Floral, and open house events.
Harrison Township Recreation is offering build a scarecrow in courtyard next to Cherry on Top. Rain date is Sunday. The craft courtyards will be located next to Cherry on Top ice cream, behind the Dressing Room on Main, and behind Farm House Design next to Mademoiselle Macaron.
And not to forget our living history. There will be two camp sites with battles on both days. “History is so important to me,” said Hazel. “I want to keep this event going to teach new generations about the darkest time in our history and to make sure we never repeat it again”.
She said the reenactors love to talk to families about firsthand experiences handed down for generations.
Saturday hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. with battle at 2 p.m. Sunday is 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. with the battle at 1 p.m. “If you hear the cannons, you know it has begun”, said Hazel. The second camp is located on Church Street next to crafters.
Fall fest is about community coming together and seeing the best we have to offer, learning about history and having a great fun filled weekend.
As the evening comes on, there is also a family friendly history walk, fun for all ages. Last year we had the tour in pouring rain, and no one was disappointed. 40 brave souls walked town in a 45 minute tour hearing tales of war, towns connection to the Civil War, medical practices of the time and even a few experiences camping on old battle fields.
“We will either scare you a little or turn your stomach”, laughs Hazel. “It’s all in good fun, but some true.”
